is it the CE500 or the C5000? now I'm a tad confused.

Posted by: .7

thread title corrected, I missed the "E"

Posted by: Dewars

locke629, great pics. The way this phone looks reminds me of a sports car.

Posted by: Alboogie7

no bluetooth? or did i miss it?

Posted by: eyesonly6587

no bluetooth

I know all you LG/Samsung haters out there are gong to bash this phone regardless of its capabilities along with the hardcore nokia/SE fan's out there, and i myself am a big fan of NOKIA but this phone looks NICE

this phone is what a lot of people have been looking for for a while (a flip phone with mp3 player capabilites, expandable memory, and the buttons on the outside of the flip)

it is a very good looking phone in my opinion and depending on price i may pick one up to try out

but transflash?? whats up with that? 512 max, not enough for me since my 6620 IS my main mp3 player.

although nothing can substitute my trusty 6620 1GB MMC + oggplay as an mp3 player and phone, this is definately a good looking phone with decent mp3 player capabilities

wouldnt be surprised if this phone does better than the CRAPR....errr ROKR.

Ok, I've used this phone now for almost two full days. Heres what I can say.

The phone itself is very well built. I've shown my friends and they were impressed at the way it looks. Reception on the phone is very similiar to the reception I have on my Moto V551. Video recording is much better then my v551 and it is very smooth and clean. I have a video recording of one of my female friends dressed in a Hooters outfit she bought for Halloween and pole dancing. It's very amusing I must say.

Only downsides I have come across with the phone are that to assign ringtones you must put a contact in a Caller Group. However you do not need to put a contact in a Caller Group to assign a Picture ID. Very weird, anyways. There is no speakerphone and no bluetooth. Not a big deal for me because I rarely use those features anyhow. But for those of you who wanted to know if it has it. No it does not have speakerphone or bluetooth. The speakers on the phone are very crisp and clear for both ringtones and mp3 songs. Furthermore, the software that comes with the phone to transfer mp3's to the phone is extremely easy to use. I prefer to use the transflash adapter, thats included with the phone, and plug it into my laptop to transfer music. When taking a picture with the phone, the external screen displays the image you see on it. So taking self portraits is extremely easy and when you take a picture of someone they can see what they look like.

I'll post more on the phone later.

*BTW, the Cingular Rep at my store did say its supposed to be a Best Buy Exclusive. I have yet to confirm it with other Cingular Reps. In the process of trying to contact a few others I know.

Laterz,

Locke629

Just a side note, that's the way my LG works too, must be how they do most of their phones. Could you check with your rep and see if they know when it'll be released to sell in general? I called my closest Best Buy's cingular desk and they didn't know anything about it.

Posted by: locke629

I'll check the next time I'm at work at what regions in the United States the phone is located in.

Posted by: macintoshcx

They had the phone at my local Best Buy tonight. I'm not a big fan of LG phones an I wanted bluetooth more than I needed an MP3 player so I got the SE 520a.

On a side note they the video ipod on display and that thing is amazing. I believe that it will be one of the hot items this Christmas along with the Xbox 360

way to go cingular. lets screw the corp rsc's some more

I like Samsung, but this is crap, almost as bad as that LG C2000.

Come on....No bluetooth, no intenna, no speakerphone (with stereo speakers....what?), not even a 176x220 internal display? Once again, LG innovates in it's own Samsung-wannabe way.

The SCH-A950/SPH-A920 simply outclass this LG phone.

Don't even get me started on the E720/30 vs. this phone....

Posted by: ceebz

I don't know which is uglier, this horrendously ugly POS, or the handlebar equipped Z520.

Posted by: Sportcat

Nice looking phone, but I need a speakerphone.

Posted by: Lister00169

No bluetooth? No Speakerphone? No thanks!

The intenna is internal so what the big difference?? Antennas are so out dated anyway especially extendable one. A phone with and internal antenna can perform equal to or even better that one with external ones(w/ extendable ones), I.e. Nokias, V3 anyone??

Posted by: tuolumne

intenna=internal antenna
antenna=external antenna

I agree with you

i agree, way back intennas werent all that great but now man.. theyre alot better most of the time than an antenna...

I'm not digging the sharp edges, but big kudos for LG for having come up with a feature-rich product. The keys though look kinda cheap, and the BB exclusive contract may lead to sales flop.

Imagine an average Joe walks to BB and sees the V3 and LG on sale at the same price...which one is he more likely to pick?

Ooooo the V3 is on sale. I've seen the ads and commercials on TV, and that so many people are using it...must be a good phone. LG? What's that?

*picks up the V3 and signs over his kidney to the Devil*

Posted by: shortyd999

Oops, internal antennas. I was drunk

This phone is now available at most Best Buy locations.

Just felt like I had to give some sort of semi-official review. So...

PROS
-262k internal screen/65k external screen (this is SICK). You can even have different wallpapers for the external/internal screens (nice touch).

-Keys are nice and large-very responsive (unlike my past motorolas)and overall keypad is well layed out. There are one-touch keys for camera, mp3 player (nice) and internet.
-Stereo speakers on top side of phone ROCK and are bearly visible.

-Call clarity is excellentand better than the moto's I've had. Reception also has been excellent thus far.

-The mp3 player on this thing is NUTS, graphic equalizer skins, streaming track-artist info, software for dummys (this is my first mp3 player), external buttons (you can play the mp3 player without opening the phone ))... did I mention the one-touch mp3 player button!?!?! Finally on this point, it has shuffle and repeat, pretty damn detailed for a phone/mp3 player!

-Camera is excellent as well, besides all your standard features, has fun frames (put designs around your picture right there on the phone), multi-shot and the brightest it's really a flash you've EVER seen on a camera phone.

-Phone Menus are easily navigated (you'll feel like a genius if you've ever used motorola phones) and are almost too easy to get mastery over but this is good for the novices out there.

-Vibrate is confident and the ringtones probaly will never have to be put on max volume. Hearing in the earpiece is great as well

-I had my doubts about the looks of the phone when PHONE SCOOP first broke it back in July. But I must say in person this phone is VERY good looking... you will get looks and questions without ever trying

-Cingular finally taking a note from other carriers and putting there branding on the outside of the phone... I like this as I like to represent my carrier! Also, external caller id stays lit while on call with nice Cingular logo for onlookers.

-Phonebook is nice and allows for multiple contacts and pic caller id, also have multiple letter name search unlike my former moto's.

-If all the above wasnt enough, this phone for $99/w two year came with usb cable, 64 micro sd card and adapter, stereo headsets and lg's software on mini disc

I could probaly dig for more pros... but you guys get the picture

CONS
-No bluetooth, while this may be a major blow for some and much as I would like to THINK of myself as some bluetooth guru, it was not a deal-breaker for me. I just never really used mine for its full potential and if your like me with no bluetooth car kit or bluetooth pc or adapter and are simply to lazy to use the wireless headset regularly you'll be fine. Besides, it does at least have IR

-Ringtones are assinged by group and not caller. This is one of the main things I liked about my moto's but if your like me I purchased 4 or 5 ringtones and grouped people together anyway, so same concept (even though individual ringtones are still better).

-Can't customize D-pad or softkeys, not that big of a deal but still would be nice to have the option!

-Only 250 contacts in phonebook.

-No speakerphone.

I am a lil' confused. You said on top, there's stereo speakers and at the end you said no speakerphone?

I'll toss in a guess: Maybe the stereo speakers are just for music playback. Kind of silly you could have that feature yet no phone audio playback.

Posted by: Michael95GT

When I picked up my Z520a today, I noticed they also had the LG in stock, but no display unit out yet, so I didn't play with it. $79.99 with "NEW ACTIVATIONS Only", $149.99 with 1 or $99.99 with 2yr "UpGrades"

They had 6 of them.

Posted by: Wide_opeN

To this phone, other than lack of bluetooth and speakerphone, this phone ROCKS!!!!! I simply cant figure out why no one is talking about it!? People the mp3 player on this phone is better than the ROKR and yet no one is talking.... People this is Cingulars FIRST music phone (not itunes) and yet no one is talking about it....... So on that note lets get on our J-O-B and get this phone pumped!!!!!!!!! It would be nice if it could be re-stickied, I think it's kind of biased that it's still not!!!!!!!

Posted by: fulfam

I have this phone and I love it, the no speakerphone sucks sometimes but I didn't use it that often so no big deal. I got mine through Radio Shack for free since I was a new customer to Cingular.

Posted by: composmentis

This looks like some cheap flea market toy, not a piece of high-end technology. Does it transform into a pterodactyl?
