Mails Not Being Marked As Read on Device

Hi,
I have a problem with mails on my Blackberry 6280 not being marked as read even though I have read them in Outlook. I have wireless reconciliation turned on and am dealing with this through a BES server. Is there any other setting on the BES server, the device or desktop manager that can help with this?
Incidentally the reverse process works fine that is when I read the mails on the device first they do show up as read in Outlook.
