i had to call letstalk.com last night because they said my order required customer information. i called and they had to do this credit / security thing where they asked me questions about my mom, brother and where i lived.

is this standard protocol for a credit card order for $400?

they usually do that security thing when you want the phone shipped to a different address other than what your billing address is.

Posted by: lindseybp

I've never ordered from them but it's very unusual for someone to ask about your mother and brother? Address confirmation, etc. I could understand but the other stuff is a little weird. I'm assuming they didn't ask for your Social Security number or anything did they?

Posted by: sharksfan

Watch out! They may have signed you up for a new line of service. I think there was a post on HoFo a while back complaining of just that...

that's what i did - i am having it shipped to my work address. and they DID ask for my social security # and then ran some kind of "test" where they asked me about the ages of my mom and brother and a county i've lived in. i've been asked this kind of stuff before, for identity purposes. i'll have to ask about them signing me up for something.

according to my order, there is no line of service being activated.

Peeps don't get me wrong I'm still gonna get this phone because it's dam close to my dream phone and it's cheap .. I just wish the photos weren't so noisy.

Sounds like the pulled a credit report?!?!

no, they didnt pull a credit report.

as I said earlier, they usually ask these questions as a security measure for when someone is trying to make an online purchase that involves different billing/shipping addresses.

sounds like they did. someone mentioned it was probably because i was having it shipped somewhere else besides my home address. i'm having it shipped to work. from what i can tell, it seems legit. i had to call them and they asked me some questions and asked for my soc sec #.

i think everything should be fine.

Posted by: lindseybp

Yes, don't get concerned until you have reason to be. Nothing to get all worked up about right now. But definitely hold onto your SS# unless it is absolutely needed. That is the one critical piece of information crooks use to get credit cards, etc. in someones name. Phone numbers and addresses are fairly easy to get ahold of...SS# is not.

Posted by: brody4

never give your ss# to indirect dealers.... the last 4# is all they need for security reasons

they only asked for the last four...i think. now i am not sure.

Posted by: quillhill

I wouldn't stress too much. Letstalk sells phones with plans for Sony Ericsson and Nokia, so for manufacturers to deal with them, I would say they're fairly reputable.
You could always call and ask them why, just to be sure.

Posted by: one elite ace

well i called cingular and got my upgrade and cancelled my order from letstalk... less hassle in the long run.

btw- i called letstalk and had it shipped to a different address from the account & credit card and a different name and all they asked for was the soc. security on the account & the birthday... (account is under my dad's name, CC is listed at home, live at school) i duno bout all that other ****

Fedex Came today!

I got my 2 w600i's.

Orange for the Wife, Blue for me. (It's awesome they give you 2 faceplates).

I havent really used the phone yet, obviously since I just got them..

First Impressions:

1. The buttons are too small. (What really gets me, is that there is plenty of room that they could have made the keypad larger, and more spread out.)
2. The Menu's seam responsive, no real lag
3. Did I mention the buttons are too small?

I'm kind of wishing I had got the s710a for myself, as it is larger for people like me with large hands. But other than the really small buttons, So far so good.

I will post a better review after i have a few days to get some experience with this phone.

Got a chance to check one out the day before yesterday, yesterday and today, the keypad buttons are definitely designed for women, or small fingered men.

Posted by: callisto9

the keypad does look kinda teeny. i haven't received mine yet though. fortunately for me, i have small hands and little fingers! i don't do much texting or dialing either, so i am good.

Posted by: RYOBI

I tried dialing a few numbers and because of the size of the keys, it took a several times to get the #'s correct. Other than that, love the phone. Unfortunately that is one of the most important things for a phone to have.

you are right.. try to go anywhere do credit check. only last 4# can't get your credit check. all phone activation need full social. unless you are willing to pay $500 security for each line you activate

I just picked up mine from corp. store tonight.

For those of you complaining of small buttons, are the buttons smaller then the T637? I have large hands (wear XL gloves) and find the T637 buttons just fine. I have yet to see this phone in person. Mine is expected to ship on 12-8 when I am eligible for upgrade.

Local stores have the dummy phones at the very least... Give that a shot.

Does anyone have some resources to get some theme's for this phone?

How about 30second ringtones?

Thanks

1. The K750/W800 themes from Zedge.no should be fine

2. Walmart.com

I just got my w600i today and have had some time to play with it. Aside from the fact my camera has not been working (the pictures all have lines in them and really bad colors), the video portions worked just great.

Pro's:
- Quality of MP3's is phenominal. It's solid.
- Phone quality has been excellent.
- The stereo headphones it comes with work real well.

Negative's:
- The affore mentioned camera (I've seen it be hit or miss)
- Battery life. Not complaining, just saying that when you start to play MP3's battery power can drain pretty quick. To be expected with this type of phone, as really it's an addon and not what it's for.

As a side note, with only one plugin location, you cannot use headphones and charge the phone at the same time. That would be the only thing I add.

Now to call Cingular and get a replacement sent.

Posted by: xbox360gamer

cars

did you buy yours online or from a corp store?

Posted by: cars4978

Online through premiere (since their phone orders through there have never gone well).

I thought the ports can be daisy chained, no? Or is it only the car charger that has that option?

Posted by: cars4978

It may be the car charger. I don't have that possibility with the standard chargers that come with the phone

Posted by: superceleb

I just got my w600i today, and I must say that after using the s710a I am extremely disappointed with the screen quality on this phone. I expected it to be smaller, but I didn't think it would look so grainy in comparison. However, I must say the voice quality, as well as the reception both seem to be much better. Also, it's nice to go back to a smaller phone.

Posted by: Paco

Can someone explain to me when the red charging light by the power button is supposed to be lit? If I plug in the power cord when the phone is on, the light will be lit, and stay on permanently, even if it is fully charged. If I then turn off the phone, then turn it back on (all while still plugged in to the charger), the red light does not come on. What is supposed to be happening?

Posted by: callisto9

thanks cars for your input! i should have mine tomorrow. sorry to hear about the camera. i have a question though: for those of us who ordered from a non-cingular retail store (ie: letstalk.com), is there any kind of warranty on this phone after 30 days? what would i do if i had a problem with the phone 5 months down the road, what can i do?

would i have been better off to purchase the phone from from cingular? and, if i had purchased from cingular, what would they do if the phone had problems five months down the road? any input is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Posted by: xbox360gamer

all Cingular phones carry a one year warranty policy through Cingular as long as the phone is/was purchased through an authorized Cingular agent which of course Letstalk.com is.

so if you have any problems, you call Cingular and tell them whats up. they will do the whole XBM thing and you'll be all set. just make sure that you hang on to your sales reciept should Cingular ask how long ago was it purchased.

Posted by: ctsooner

I just got the phone through the premier site and I have a question. It shipped with a 64K SIM. The SIM wasn't activated, I couldn't get a network, so I took it out and put in the SIM from my other phone. My question is should I go and have the 64K SIM activated? Is it really necessary for this phone, I haven't noticed any features not working with my older SIM.

Any thoughts?

BTW. Phone is great no issues for me.

sounds like you've already answered your own question.

if the phone is working fine, then dont worry about activating the new SIM.

After three years on my V60t, I'm ready to join the rest of the world, although I'll be sad to lose my 850min $34.99 plan with the blue. I wish there were a reasonable hardware upgrade path on that TDMA plan, but I've been told that there isn't.

I've noticed that I can get the W600i from Cingular Premier for $154.99, out the door. If the current $100 rebate from Cingular is valid (making it $54.99 OTD), I may just go that route, but the Premier site does not advertise the $100 rebate.

The terms state: "valid only with the purchase of a qualified Cingular device with activation on a qualified service plan from a participating National Distribution Location" Does anyone know if a purchase from the Cingular Premier site qualifies? Thank you.

Posted by: Marcster

Just got the phone last night. I'm going to have to exchange it...

One of the essential features of a camera phone is that when you take a picture, is that the phone actually stores it! My w600i goes through all the motions of taking a picture... even makes the little shutter sound, and instantly goes back to the wallpaper! It doesn't even stay in camera mode, ready to take another picture (which is what the video recorder does).

When you go into My Stuff-->Pictures-->Camera Pictures, there is nothing! When you click on the "Add Folder" the phone shows a message that says "Currently Unavailable".

The audio record function and video record function work fine, just not the camera.

I even did a soft-reset.

So, if you are buying this phone, make sure you test out the camera before you leave the store!

Posted by: clamrade

BTW, is there a fee involved for requesting a new phone number on a currently active account (NOT at the time of an upgrade, but later on during a plan period)?

I've heard HoFoers mention a $25.00 fee, but we weren't charged when we ported in our landline #s, so YMMV...

I am a Nokia lover, my last nokia was the 6230b. however, the w600i has impressed me so far with excellent quality.
RF is outstanding better than my Nokia, the sound, conection, speed, quality is top of the line. T
This phone is one of the best out at this moment.

Just exchanged for a new w600i. This one can actually store the photos!

And the camera's viewfinder is much sharper/less grainy....

I just seem to have bad luck with phones, out of the past 6 that we've had on our family plan (over the course of 2 years), 3 have needed to be exchanged.

Yeah, I don't know why some people said the screen isn't clear.

Mine is very sharp. High Res.

So Far no problems yet with our phones.

Only thing other than the buttons being too small as I mentioned before, is that the up/down button on the upper right side of the phone SHOULD turn the master volume up/down (as it does for the speakerphone volume, and ear piece volume when on a call), but instead it opens the phone status menu..

So you have to go into the menu/profile in order to change the master volume.. Thats horriable!

-TheChad

Posted by: Paco

So you are referring to the volume of the ringtone and alert sounds. You want that controled by the up/down buttons? I often go between volume and mute, but rarely find myself wanting to change the volume level of ringtones and alerts. You do? If that is the case, why not just use different profiles, which are easily accessible via the power button menu.

Actually the volume thing is how Sony Ericsson has been doing it for a while. I never need to adjust the volume on the ringers, I just leave it on top level and either have that or silent on with vibe always on.

I often go between volume and mute as well.. For example, on all nextel flip phones, the volume up/down button on the side will adjust the volume for the ringtone while in idle mode, and the volume for the speaker phone while in speakerphone mode, and the volume for the earpiece while on a call (not using the speaker phone)..

That is how the sony SHOULD be, if for no other reason, just because it makes since... Especially since there are the 2 game buttons on this phone which do nothing, those could have easily been used leaving the volume button(s) to contoll... The Volume!

With my Nextel, when i need the phone to be in vibrate only mode, i just press the volume down button, and you hear the ringtone get softer, and softer, untill its off, and the phone vibrates, then i know the phone is in vibrate only mode..

That is far easier than chaning profiles... I don't even have to look at the phone.

-TheChad

Posted by: Paco

Clearly you like the way nextel does it, so there is no point in arguing that. But for the quickest way to enter silent mode, hold down the # key.

Did you guys know that holding the # key on the phone puts it in silent mode?

Holding it again puts it back to the profile you had it on before.

Maybe i'm just a newbie, but it was something new to me, so i thought i'd share.

Cool... That is better than going threw the menu's to do it....

Yeah that is way old for SE. It used to be hold C and it would do that. On the newer models they moved it to the # key.

Would one of the w600i owners be able to answer me a question in regards to contacts?

I'm looking at moving from my old by trusty 3650 to the w600i(since the 6682 isn't out til sometime next year according to my local Cingular folks the w600i seems to be the best choice, and since my T-Mobile contract is up next Sat I'm ready to bail).

One thing I really like about the 3650 is the number of fields that are available for each contact... multiple phone number, email, url, address, mobile, fax fields even a birthday field.... how deep are the contact field options for the w600i?

Thanks.

I got mine off the Premier site for $149. I plan on sending in the rebate form to see if it works. If it does great, if not, I am only out the 37 cents.

Well the S710a has the bigger, better screen (2.3" 240x320 vs 1.8" 176x220) but the UI in the S710a is much slower then the W600i. Plus the UI in the W600i is newer and better then the S710a (allows MP3 SMS ringers, allows wallpaper to cover whole main screen instead of inbetween status and softkey bars, etc).

Posted by: 18t

thanks for the input....any others?

is the s710 like really slow. Or just kinda slow. If i go into settings, am i going to be waiting for a seconds after hitting the 2 or three buttons used to get to settings.

and is the ear speaker better on either?

I can only speak about the first version of the firmware, but my S710a was not just laggy. Periodically, it would grind to a halt for a good 10-20 seconds before catching up with me. I can only assume that the version available on the newer S710a's is better.

okay, thats easy.

just hook up the USB cable to the phone and put the phone in USB transfer mode. then, click on the drive letter that should be in your "My computer" section on your computer. you'll see several folders of which one is named "themes". just drag-n-drop the theme you want into that folder and then unplug the USB cable from your computer and restart the phone. easy enough.

screw the software that came with the phone. its damn near useless in my book.

I bought mine today but what is odd to me is that I signed the 1 year contract but they said I CAN still used the $100 rebate. They gave me a note and said make sure they read that if you have any problems, come back.

I'm going to call tomorrow and double check.

Posted by: daftgem

You can use the rebate. It doesnt matter if you signed a contract or not... its just a rebate for the phone. You can review the details of the online PDF if you so choose.

It says for 2 year agreements thats why.

Lovin' this phone though. Best one I've owned yet!

I would highly doubt that those aftermarket covers would have the rubbery texture.

also, does anyone else find the disc to phone software reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally slow? took me forever to transfer 20 songs.

i've plugged this phone into my computer speakers and it comes out in stereo. YES! so, i am assuming when i plug it into my cassette adapter in my car, i will come out in stereo as well.

thats normal, mine does the same thing after 15 seconds or so. I even have "powersave" turned off and it still goes into standby after 15 seconds. so I dont think there's any way around that.

Thank you so much. This one says on qualifying plans. I kept my old plan (600 5000N&W) so that should be okay, right? It was just an upgrade on a phone.

yes, the rebate is valid as long as you did one of the following:

1) activated a new line of service whether it be a completely new service agreement or by just adding another line to an existing rate plan.

2) you did a phone upgrade which of course would be extending your current service contract.

Thank you for all your help!

So I guess sending the one that says 2 year wouldnt be smart. I'll just print this new one out

Okay so now a question about the actual phone.

I have a mac. I've been able to sync it with iSync with that little hack that was posted but Im unable to add songs so that they play through the walkman. They are only files right now and can be used as ringtones, etc.. Is that possible ATM?

screw the software that came with the phone. its damn near useless in my book.

Yep! I will 2nd, 3rd & 4th the above!

The software it comes with is useless...

I thought their software would have some way where you could build an address book, and upload it to the phone, but it didn't. So i had to spend hours inputing names, phone numbers, email addresses, etc into the phone from my Nextel..

-TheChad

Posted by: auero

Yeah the software is always useless. I'm happy that they make BluePhoneElite for the mac. Texting from your computer, adding contacts, editing, and can't forget iSync

Just wish I could use the walkman app to play my music

Posted by: clamrade

You mean there's no way to upload contact info from a PC? That can't be!

Posted by: Marcster

I've been running BT feature all the time for my Plantronics Voyager 510 and playing MP3s through the speakers during various chores around the house, and I find I need to charge it daily!

Not that I'm complaining... I love the phone, but I can see that I'm probably going to wear the battery out in a year's time (discharging/recharging).

Is it possible to sign up for a 1-year contract at Cingular Premier? Their web site seems to offer only 2-year contracts.

Just to clarify ... styleupcover.com is a Web site that SE provides to sell covers for three of its phones, the J300, the z520 and the w600 ... last I checked, no one is making and selling aftermarket covers for the w600.

From what I've read, depending on which style of covers you order, you'll get the rubber feeling plates or a smooth finish. I understand the white faceplates that come with the unlocked version are a glossy finish and not rubbery at all.

I expect that there will be aftermarket faceplates and battery doors soon. I hope so ... SE is silly asking $24.50 USD for something that will probably cost $10 on ebay.

And bodeh6, I'm with you on the waiting for this phone. But, I'm waiting for SE to get theirs shipped. Silly me, ordering without realizing its backordered. Oh, well. Waiting builds character. Yeah. Mine should arrive the same week yours does. It should be worth it, though.

i couldn't stand the wait! and i only had to wait 3 days. where did you order yours from?

After using the w600i for a few days, I'm considering taking it back for the Nokia 6682. Mainly because of the camera. For some reason I had thought the Nokia was discontinued...

Also, there's something that just bothers me about W600i. Maybe it's the colors...

I'd love for someone to figure out how, and le tme know... Cuz i spent hours and could not figure it out.

Posted by: wtxn

it's not that hard... install the PC suite and click Snychronise Now... it'll sync with Outlook.

(I did upgrade to the latest version available on the Sony Ericsson website, but it worked with the CD version also.)

Posted by: TheChad

The Sync button on the PC suite is never able to be clicked, it is grayed out... Ive tried it in File Transfer mode, and in phone mode, still grayed out.

Also, Syncing with outlook is OK, but not the greatest... They really should have a progy where you can type in contacts and upload it to the phone, also backup your phones phonebook, or xfer between sony brand phones...

Motorola has a utility like that, Its a simple but GREAT utility...

no offense, but if you're wanting superior camera quality, go out and buy a DSLR camera... no matter what, a phone is not going to give you that kind of quality.

the camera is fine for me... as long as i can tell what it is that i'm taking a picture of, there isn't a need for a better quality camera from a phone.

do you have your phone connectly properly? is your computer recognizing it? the first time you connect, you'll go through a little setup to tell your PC how you want to connect your phone to the computer. then, you can sync. to sync certain items, open up sony ericsson PC suite and make sure your computer is recognizing your phone. you'll know when it does.

then, in the SE PC suite, click on FILE and then SYNC MANAGER. from there, there are options about what you want to sync and parameters. good luck!

I HAVE a decent digital camera already. Do you really think I expect decent pictures from a cell phone? No. But there's another phone that DOES do a much better job. And I want it.

Posted by: callisto9

what are you guys getting for battery life? how's your battery meter? mine, after being fully charged, looks like it's at about 90% on the battery meter. also, i was about out of battery after a full day of use (camera, MP3 or two, bluetooth, 1-2 hours on the phone).

please share!

Posted by: wierdo

My 6682 was that way when new. After a couple of weeks of use, it now lasts a little over a week if I only do a bit of talking and little to no web browsing/music playing/etc. No, I'm not talking about a w600, but it's a common characteristic of lithium ion batteries.

Also is there any other sites that offer more themes?

Thanks,

File transfer mode enumerates the phone as a standard USB Mass Storage device.

just D/L them to your PC and do a file transfer to the phone. its super easy.

I've had the phone for three days now.

I usually stay connected to the BT headset all day (turn the headset off and turn off BT at night). Today, I only made a few short calls and it's still at like 95% life remaining.

I think it's so much better to have a sliding scale as opposed to the 3 little bars that my x497 had. Let's see there is "full strength", "2/3 remaining" and "uh-oh, it could die any moment!"

mine is not doing so well. it's jumping all over the place with the battey meter and actual percentage of battery life remaining. i'll see how it goes this week.

Letstalk.com allows upgrades with 2 year contract extension. That is how I am getting my phone. Its right there on the right:

Buy w/New Service Plan $149.99 After MIR
Buy w/Contract Extension $149.99 After MIR
Buy Phone Only $389.99

Sony Ericsson has this site www.styleupcover.com. Try there. I've not found any aftermarket sources for faceplates for the w600 yet.

got mine today... this phone kicks ***. i would write up a full review but i know a bunch of people have already. great great phone, cool factor is huge, games are awesome, music sounds great. sony ericsson's system has a learning curve but i've had three before so i know how to get around it.

my issues:

music transfer slow as ****... is this just me?
no way to organize an album logically (i.e.- in the order of the cd), everything's alphabetical.

QUESTION- on the MobiTV demo do you get charged for data?
how much are the full versions of the games included... they're pretty fun so far, seems like a few bucks would be worth it for these

Posted by: callisto9

yes, music transfer is slow. took me about 12 mins. to do 15 songs and my computer is about 1.5 years old.

games are about $7. the demo lasts a few mins. and then you are asked to purchase.

i would guess you'll get charged data on the mobileTV.

ok its not just me. the games are pretty cool, i'll have to look into purchasing at least tetris and one other.

mobitv-- i watched two short promos (kind of by accident) and it used almost 400k of data, and i have a pay per use @.05c/kb so those 30 seconds cost me bout two bucks.

I called Cingular exchange center, the first thing I asked before I got into the long drawn out conversation was, "Do you have the Nokia 6682?"
Yes, sure we do, can I have your phone number, etc...

Low and behold we get to the end, and of course they DON'T have it. Anyway, I was offered the W600i. I will test it for a day or two, and see how it goes.

Has anyone really put this model (w600i) through it's paces?

I call Cingular today and was told that the 6682 won't be back... <sigh> Looks like I'm being pushed towards the w600i... and just when I'd finally decided to just wait for the 6682.

I have had it for a couple of weeks and I still love it. I havent had a single problem with it and reception is excellent. The speakerphone is so good I havent had one person even make a comment yet about being on the other side of it...perhaps they didnt even know.
While the picture quality is not amazing, I did take pictures of my computer screen for the pics I want in the camera and it works just fine. I have a few hundred pics already and have pic id'd most of my list.
So many positives and I can hardly find anything negative about it

Love the 600i. I have it singing with my mac, including salling clicker, isync, phone as modem etc.

What I can't do is view my contacts. In other words, is it possible to simply view a contact in it's entirety (name, address, picture, etc) without having to go through the edit screen? Granted, it's a small thing but it would seem you should be able to do this.

So far, I don't miss my Treo. This thing does it all!

Is that why they are sending me a new sim from letstalk for an equipment upgrade?

Cingular cancelled my current sim card and I won't get my new phone for a couple days. Wasn't really expecting 2 days without a cell.

not so much complicated, but more getting use to it. I have never used a phone like this so it takes a minute to get used to it. And im very good with computers and phones. But now after an hour, it seems pretty easy. Not a fan of orange lights..but im sure ill get over it. Speaker seems to be loud and clear. I like the button on the s710 that covered the camera lens. Thats one thing i dont like. Over all it gets a A in my book. I recommend the w600

That doesn't happen to me unless you choose File Transfer mode (which lets you use the phone like a standard USB mass storage device.) Then, it restarts the phone in File Transfer mode (all functions except alarms disabled)...

I got it to go into File Transfer mode without the restart once - the first time I plugged the phone in. Since then, it's been in Phone Mode by default.

You can still copy files (including music) to the phone over this mode, using the Sony Ericsson phone manager software...

I don't have a w600, but I know when I had the z520, the very, very LAST text messaging ringtone in the list was actually a user-selectable one. Unlike Nokia, who sometimes shows it as "Personal" or something like that.

If I recall, on the z520 (maybe same on the w600) when you select the last SMS tone, a different option softkey appears (maybe it says "option"?)

Just a guess.

You are, indeed the man! That worked...

...sorry one more quesiton. Is there not an option so that when certain people call me it can ring a particular tone? I've checked options, contacts etc, and don't see anything relating to this...

just ordered my w600i from cingular online... figured i would shoot out some details maybe someone else can cop the same deal...

starting sometime this afternoon (was odd it happened in the middle of the day) Cingular put an instant $50 rebate on the phone. Worked out great since i added a line to a non family-talk plan for $10, didnt lose any rollover mins, and signed a 1 yr contract on the 2nd phone. awesome deal, $50, 500 some odd mins on 2 phones, and kept my pop's 5000 rollover mins banked (and the mins were actually removed from the account on purpose and added back in by the cingular rep, so all my mins have a 'born on' date of today and wont start losing them till my contract is over )

jump on it if you can, 2 days air shipping via FedEX, i cant complain.. phone should be here friday... now i just hope Cingular has as excellent of service as my Nextel does

Just to clarify, the phone cost me $199 (woulda been $150 but i opted for a 1 year contract, and the cingular rep only charged me half of the $36 (i think) activation fee..

p's

I FOUND THE OPTION! This is the problem when you get a new toy, all you want to do is "play with it" and thus you end up missing the obvious...

Cingular.com just dropped the price. It is now $149.99 after $100 MIR with 2 year.

What's with the CINGULAR VISA REWARD CARD you get now instead of cash? Pretty soon for rebates you're gonna get oreo cookies.

It's set up via a dial-up connection on my mac. Still actually looking for scripts (I've visited a few sites and got some, but they don't seem to work) that will increase the speed, but when I pair my mac, it gives me the option to use for internet. Plug in the settings and away you go! If you use a mac, there is a great link on this site that gives you a number of tips, software etc to use.

Now for my question - is there a way to simply view an entire contact (number, name, home and work address, etc) on one screen without having to choose edit contact? Again, not a deal breaker, but just wondering.

I have a question about the camera, and dont have patience to go through 52 pages of info. Already searched didnt lead me anywhere. Is there a way to mute the camera sound? I saw a few different sounds for it, but no mute or quiet. Any way to mute it? Thanks

Also any word of the speaker losing quality after using the walkman? Mines not...just curious...

those VISA reward cards are just fine.

after all, you can buy whatever you want or need to buy with the VISA cards just like you would with cash. well, everything except for things like purchasing illegal goodies in your local "hood" locations.

...my w600i charged for about 9 hours last night (pc, usb connection) and it was still only at 88%. Is this normal? Brand new phone, got it yesterday...

Maybe tonight I will charge it with the proper charger. I also tried for about 1 hour connect the usb cable to my USB 2.0 connection...

Any thoughts?

the battery meter and the actual percentage always seems to have been off on mine, too. whenever i charge mine overnight, and then check the battery status 1st thing in the morning, it reads 97%. the percentage jumps all over the place and i find it to be horribly inaccurate. i was only getting about 1 day of use on a full battery, but that has improved. i've only had my phone 6 days.

Was the phone on? I found that if you turn the phone off, regardless of the charging method, the battery will go to 100% charged. With the phone left on I never get to 100%, it must have to do with the "Optimizing Charge" message.

I've set the mobile option to where when I restart the phone I should NOT see the option for File Transfer / Phone mode (or whatever it is that it says) when the phone comes on. Yet, if I restart the w600i now, I still get the option. What gives?

In addition, is there a way to have the mobile connected to the pc - to charge - yet have it OFF? I've tried and it switches to the file transfer mode. Odd, no?

Just got mine in today, awesome phone

Anyone know if there is a shortcut to the flashlight, or do you always have to go through the menu?

Posted by: callisto9

you have to go through the menu. you can make one of your shortcuts for the D pad the flashlight, if you like.

if you're in camera mode, you can turn on the "flash" by sliding the phone lock button.

hope this helps! enjoy the phone! i know i am!

...you know what, I've realised that there are TWO options. One can be changed (start up menu) and the other can't.

For example, if the cable is NOT connected to the mobile, and you power on you can have it ask (or not ask as the case maybe) to use mobile or walkman option. This can be turned off. The other option, is if the cable IS connected and you restart it, it will kick into the option of file transfer mode or mobile mode. This is really the one I want to turn off! In addition, I want to be able to have it connected to the PC - to charge - but have the mobile itself OFF! Any takers on this?

I've got a w600 on the way. The Cingular Premier reps are INCREDIBLE!! The woman I spoke with (she is awesome...very helpfull, friendy and a totally sexy voice ) replaced out my borked v551 with a w600 no charge. I can't wait to get it. I must say that the premier reps are a very warm welcome after dealing with way too many ignorant kiosk, corporate and "regular" 611 reps. I would be on Tmo by now if it were not for her

Any body know how to turn off camera sound with not having to turn on meeting profile?

Any way to delete the pics that come on the phone? Says they are copyrighted or copy protected something stupid...

Any way to set up the phone so that the clock is always on the screen instead of having to hit the walkman button

THANKS

i don't know of a way to turn off the camera sound. don't think there is one.

to delete pics that came on the phone, you're probably going to need some hacking software. don't know what that would be though.

to have the phone display the time on the screen when in standby mode, go to menu / settings / display / sleep mode clock and turn it to ON.

---------------

does everyone else's phone go into standby (blank screen or blank screen w. clock) after only 15 secs?

You can hold down the # key to put your phone in silent mode.

If I have multiple email accounts on my phone, how can I get it to check all accounts automatically? Presently, it appears that it only checks the default mail account...

I suppose am just use to the Nokia 6682 options...

There is a new rebate in letstalk.com for this phone if you sign an agreement for two years. Can anybody post the rebate form in this thread??
Thank you.
