Using 8200 as modem still work?

Last year I used my 8100 as a modem w/o issue. This time around, I was able to use my 8200 as a modem but after < 3 mins or so I'm kicked off or disconnected. The phone returns to normal state.

My plan is fairly old school with "unlimited MB of PCS Vision" and I have turned all image/media loading off from IE options. So I guess I'm wondering two things:
(1) Has Sprint implemented a measure to defeat the use of phone modeming?
(2) If my plan has unlimited MB of Vision, shouldn't I be free to d/l whatever I want w/o capping my MB xfer? To avoid the red flags, I do cap it around a few MBs.

Thanks.

this may seem stupid, but are you getting calls or messages at those times? Is it peak usage time?I used to tether and d/l about 700 megs per week, and peak usage hours like from 5pm to around 10 or 11 pm,the service slows and will frequently boot you off.Same for incoming calls or msgs.

No incoming calls/texting at the time. It was around peak usage, good point. I'll have to try it again off-hours.

Well, actually Sprint's TOS state specifically you aren't supposed to use your phone as a modem, however many people have used it for such purpose. The unlimited MB really only applies when surfing or downloading content from you're phones browser or using vision to say download a ringer, game or app. It would also be used for stuff like MobiTV, stuff that streams to your phone. I'm not sure if there is a certain cap where Sprint get suspicous or if they can tell if you're streaming data or dialing #777.

I think if you have constant high usage, then it wouldn't flag them if all of a sudden your usage increased. But, they will send you a warning letter to advise you if you need to stop.

As far as if they disabled it, I'll try when I get home, but I just tried a couple a weeks ago on my 7400 and it worked fine.

Well, I tried using my 7400 last night as a modem and it worked fine. So, I guess they haven't disabled that function on their network.
