everyone started having problems with their Nokia 6230 a few months back. mine just started this past month. and alot, might i add. freezing up, bluetooth not keeping sync. just over all problems with the phone...

im in need of a phone that will do a few things.. Take Pics, Do Video, bluetooth, and an expandable media card. the media card is MANDITORY!

its still under warrenty through XBM. what phone sounds comparable that XBM should replace it with? any suggestions?

cingular will only offer you the v551, and s66.

Mail your 6230 off to get the firmware upgraded. I did and don't have any problems with it anymore. It was the Cingular firmware that caused the issue. I went with the non-cingular firmware and it works great now!

...or get the 6682. :-)

I dropped off my 6230 today at the post office. Its now on its way to Lockline or wherever it is it goes. My little soldier.

I must have got one of the good guys...(knocks on wood) because I havent had any of these problems... been using off and on since December....

DEFINITELY get it unbranded. it's unbelievable the difference, really. Plus you don't have that annoying little jumping-jack everytime you go to the menu.

S710a might be your only choice, aside from MPx220, SMT5600, Nokia 6682, Treo 650, etc

lol - that could be said for any phone that Cingular has to offer.

I dont know if Cingular's company brains screw up their phones' software on purpose or if they're really that dumb because 90% of the phones I've used (and currently use) have been unbranded and they have all been nothing but top-notch with ZERO problems.

absolutely none.

The s710a has expandable memory but you can't put a large card in, the max. is 128MB. Of course, you could carry a few cards around,

What I want to know is, what the hell are they doing when they do the xxx amount of hours of testing on phones before they are released?? Honestly...... Some of these phones, my grandmother would be able to tell that there are a lot of bugs within a few minutes of use!!!

Send it to iunlock.com. Spend $30 to get it unbranded and have the firmware upgraded. You will thank yourself because its like getting a whole new phone but its still the one you love! And, if you're in a hurry spend the extra for overnight shipping. I'll bet $100 they have it back to you within 3 days. Sending it to Cingular is like playing Russian roulette. You'll be without a phone for weeks and then you'll take whatever broken down left overs they feel like sending you. If you want decent equipment sometimes you just have to take matters into your own hands.

I still agree, I sent mine to iUnlock.com and got the newest unbranded firmware. It works flawlessly. The bluetooth, everything. The only issues I have now are the typical merger-challanged Cingular ones...

I have my 6230b coming back from Evan at iUnlock, should be back in my hands tomorrow late afternoon it seems. I've been very satisfied with past upgrades on other phones (1100b now takes a 64k sim very nicely for instance, and I have to say it's more stable decustomized.)
