The phone has been temporarily pulled from Cingular's lineup to an incompatibility with the 3G UMTS SIM Cards. It is supposed to coming back after they fix the incompatibility. On a personal note I hope that the fix includes the removal of Cingular's glitchy firmware!!!!

lol - in order to do that you'd have to take Cingular completely out of the picture.

haha, True! I wish there was some way to get that bloody ENS software without their firmware!! There's a noticeable difference without it here in the Orange County area.

That, my friend, is the million dollar question. No doubt the policy will be to leave us high and dry forcing us to go yell at some poor manager to get our phone with the full functionality that we paid for...

Yea but I personally would MUCH rather have a NEW 6682 instead of the refurbs they will be peddling on XBM. I paid for the phone and I shouldn;t have to get a refurb to get what should have been in there to begin with (the UMTS-card support and a stable OS)

If I were you I'd just wait and see who comes out with it first. I don't believe anyone's estimated release dates. Just play the waiting game.

Yes I am. The issue I have is that it is a purchased as new phone and not a refurb that's had parts replaced because it was originally defective.

I agree...

so if it was taken off the shelf the day after you upgraded; what's the best course of action to take?
Bearing in mind I've made no small financial commitment to symbian s60 software too.

In your case and since you already pulled the trigger, you 'd better wait for a firmware upgrade which is very soon to come out I believe. Hopefully this would solve all the current issues and bugs in this baby.

most refurbs are simply phones that people got and ended up not getting a signal where they live. it's not necessarily defective phones. Most of the phones we return are ones where they weren't satisfied with the signal at their home. no biggie.

Then you should call this number 866 665 4228 , your issue is with Nokia not Cingular. Cingular is simply a middle man trying to provide its customer the best possible solution in a speedy manner. Call Nokia see what they tell you , it will go something like this... you can send your phone to our Minnesota repair center and it will be repaired and returned to you. Oh by the way the average turn around for this is 3 weeks but most times it can take upto 5 weeks. If the matter can not be repaired they will also send you a refurbished phone back. Now in all seriousness do you honestly expect to be buying a 3g UMTS capable device anytime soon and then switching your sim card back and forth between the 2 phones if your answer is no then dont worry use your phone as normal the matter doesnt effect you.
