Called, and they are gonna email me the unlock code within 5 days...... woot!

how long have you been a customer with Cingular? When did you purchase the V3? My friend has a black one that he doesn't use, and I'm going to buy it, only thing is, he bought the black one from Orange, and I"m still on Blue...

ive been a customer for a year..... just tell them u are going overseas in a week and u need it unlocked, and u should be good 2 go, they email it to jew.

I called Cingular over 10 days ago to get an unlock code for my CINGULAR - branded Razr (long story). I call them back yesterday and the guy tells me the code has been rejected! It looks like I'm going to have to pay 30 bucks to get this sucker completely unlocked.

How did you do it? How did you get it back on the SAME day? They told me that the "request" has to be "filed" and "approved" and then they have to "wait for Motorola to send them the code" which apparently they were doing (waiting on Moto) but they failed to tell me that the code was denied in the first place!

Cingular has been good to me usually but I found the whole rigmarole to be ridiculous.

I called about another issue that got me into tech support, then while i was waiting on the line in tech support for a seperate issue, I asked if I could have my razr unlocked, she said sure, u qualify. so then she said 5 days..... max... then 4 hours later she calls back to tell me the unlock code is approved and already here. she tells me it, and wala, unlocked

When I had my V551, I had been a customer for less then 2 months and got the unlock code in only a few days. First rep was a A....... The second guy was cool and got me the code promptly. Just keep calling until you get a nice, knowledable rep. I plan on getting this same sort of service when I get the unlock code for my Z520a when I get that phone in January. I plan on going to the Middle East next summer.

in order to unlock SE phones, I beleive you HAVE to have it connected to a cable. So I dont think Cingular can unlock SE phones

I own a Motorolla V551 which I just purchased brand new from Cingular. I have been a Cingular customer now for over 4 years. I requested Cingular to give me the code in order to unlock my V551 and they put in the request for me. Cingular told me that they I will hear from them within 5 days with an answer.

I would like to know if I will be able to unlock my V551 phone by myself "without" using a separate SIM chip and without attaching a USB cable to it? I am very unfamiliar with the cell phone technical lingo and I am not technically inclined to be able to download stuff on my V551. I would like to know how easy it is to unlock a V551 phone?
Will I be able to unlock my V551 once I get the unlock code from Cingular without having to use a different SIM chip and without needing any cables to attach to the V551 phone?
I would like to know.

you cant unlock it until u have a different sim card. just store the code in your phone, and when u get a new sim, you put the new sim in your phone power it on, and it prompts you for the code.... u put it in and bam, unlocked.

After almost three weeks of bugging Cingular, my case finally got "escalated" to a manager and he had the code within 20 minutes. Hurray for unlocked Razr!

I swear, those managers really get stuff done.
