Wow...

I just had a customer call me and tell me her long sob story, here is what it was:

Here is a picture just to set the stage, picture a obese woman with grease stains on her shirt walking in... She said that her son was being attacked by people "tech messaging" him and that she deserved to have all her last 3 months bills waived bc she had requested that text messaging be blocked. I sold her the phone and she never told me anything about blocking any text messages. She said her son didn't text message people and that people ruled him out and picked on him by "teching him" I called Cingular and they told me that her son had sent 1,890 outgoing texts and recived alot more. All this without any sort of text plan whatsoever. This woman completely fabricated a story about me calling CS when I activated her phone and telling them to block texting lol. When I told her, I never did that, she said that I was young and did not remember lol. Neways, I woulda tried to help her if she had just told me the truth. Gosh, Tennessee is awesome isn't it.

rock on....lol... customers will try anything to not be responsible for their own mistakes or the mistakes of the ones they are responsible for.

Wow. Why do all the scumbags here in America seem to cluster together around cell phone stores?

Posted by: izzat786

On top of it, she had a horrible studdering problem and I was on the phone with her for 45 minutes...

lol thats a good one.....
you know when it comes to people making mistakes and trying to blame it on the rep its easy we are always the ones forgetting to mention and eductate them, but it is also their responsability to know what their service is and the charges they would run in to by using them. dont try to tell me that an international call is free after 9pm it isnt!!

thats a LOL

i had a customer freak out on me cause I sold the last 6102 in our store on an add a line. the customer was right there (who bought the phone) and the guy was like yelling at me saying why I didn't have a sign up that we were out.

I told him I just sold the last one to her and did not have any chance to do anything else.

there were only 2 reps in the store at the time and it got really busy.

Man - that is hysterical. I am just a customer (not a rep or agent) and I hope I never sound that stupid. She needs to take her son out back and whoop his ***! That's what she needs to do. (Oh, and maybe pass up on the dessert once in a while too.)

I had a woman once come in blaming me because all four of her kids signed up for jamster on the family plan. Aparently my fault that i didnt educate the children i have never. Customer laziness in the cellular industry is insane. Nobody does there own research and expects you to tell them everything that could go wrong with there billing or phone. They dont realize i could go on for three days talking about it. Everything is in responsibility of the salesperson in this industry, there fault or not.

It's becoming that way in every industry. Ever notice the ridiculous-ness of warning lables these days? It's cause we're moving away from "buyer-beware" and more into where the sales-person is responsible (there's a latin name for it, i don't remember - last semester.)

So if I sell you a set of knives do I have to say that they are sharp and could cause you harm if used incorrectly?

Tech messaging? HAH! I love the fact that he has sent out just as many as he has received... lol Everybody wants to be catered to get something free...

So true and it's one of the main reasons I had to get out of retail.

If I would have stayed any longer I'm sure I would have assaulted someone and I'm a very calm guy.

You're probably thinking about 'caveat emptor', but that phrase means "Buyer Beware".

Posted by: Rcadden

haha. yeah, that's the one i was thinking of. Obviously I wasn't paying attention to closely.

That is how I try to sell text packages to customers. Especially with family talk lines for kids. I stress, and I really mean stress... the probability this would happen to them. I have seen a customer who used 12,000 sms's in a month. You almost hate to say "I told you so".

When somebody would pull in to my store and look for a cell phone i would pay attention to what they were driving for a car, look at them, and if all the signs pointed towards scumbag i would start with a credit check. 95 percent of the time i was right and wasted much less time.

I ALWAYS do a credit check first.

Hehe, yeah i know, but it saves you sometimes a half hour per line. It would be like going to the car dealership not knowing if you want a van, car, suv, truck, or sports car. Your just wasting everyones time. In sales, time is money, big time.

I am also guilty of wireless profiling...

Posted by: Rcadden

Yeah, I think any wireless salesperson will confess to profiling. But I mean, I don't think it's insulting, it's more of a compliment. Not only are you saving your own time, you're also saving the customer's time, and not getting them all pumped up, only to inform them they have a $750 deposit. And yeah, there have been times when I was surprised on both sides, that they DID have a deposit, and some that didn't that I knew surely they would, they'd be approved for four lines or something.

Sometimes when they are approved and i dont want them to be i try making up an excuse to not sell them a phone or get them to go somewhere else. I HATE DEACTS.

Posted by: Rcadden

I definitely never do that. If you're approved, you're getting a phone.

Back when I sold cars, I had a family of four pull up in a nice car. They were looking for a Club Cab Ram 1500 4x4 for the husband. Showed them around the truck, sent 'em out for the test drive, came back in... They loved the truck, agreed to buy it for full-sticker price, which wasn't completely a tip-off (4x4 were tough to come by that Winter).

Turns out their bankruptcy had just finalized two months ago. Probably could've hunted around and got them into a 23% loan, but who wants to pay $700 for a truck payment? They sooo wasted my time.
