modding Sony MDRV150 to fit 3.5mm adapters for k750i

Being inspired by the mod made for earphones to fit the adapters for K750i, I tried modding a Sony MDRV150 (i.e. shorten its cord) to fit into the adapters. Unfortunately, after a few trials, I made no success. I also tried contacting accredited service shops but they dont accept modifications for these type of products (doesnt encourage - as is).

I also found out that the wire inside the cable is different from other wires (i.e. earphones) and that there is a coating that needs to be removed before soldering it.
Does anybody know how to do this modification or any ideas that might help the problem?
