YAYYYYYYYY I GOT THE OTA.

Its pretty cool. Just little things I've noticed so far as being different and a few more novelties that prolly shoulda been there to begin with. The best part to me is you can have a screensaver.

Well I just happy. Its like getting a whole new SK2. I feel like I felt when I first got it.

The process is IMEI based, not location and not account based. Nice for getting 2.3. But can we keep all future 2.3 threads to this one or the other 2.3 thread?

Im in waterbury. im not real familiar with hartford cept for albany. I was shocked when i saw the message to update. but im not complaining.

Well, "random" has to have a basis in SOMETHING doesn't it? In other words, "random what?"

And the original poster is right. OTAs are rolled out randomly based on active IMEIs in the system. That's why the user, pre-paidness or post-paidness of device, location, and all that are irrelevant.

The OTA server knows devices by IMEI and not by any other identifying info (name, location, etc). So the only thing the OTA server knows to do is assign updated to devices based on IMEI, however the IMEI selection is random.

Just got my update on my MIster Cartoon Sidekick II, it came in two parts, one the 2.3 and another was a performance enhancer.

Niether. Its just like a pop up message notification. It takes up the whole screen so you wont miss it. LOL

Before posting questions, you should look around the forums first....

Umm I don't think so. Tmobile is still pilot testing their new OTA with just a few users. It has been released to around 1000 users I believe (which finished on sept. 23) and is now being evaluated again. If all goes well it should be released very shortly.

And those images are real.

And don't call T-mobile crying about where your OTA is. You will get it eventually but you have to wait like everyone else. You're not special.

man my brother and i got the same phone and live in the same house and he got the OTA update like 2 days ago and i still havent got it.

any one know why this is????

HEy all.
I had to type all of this over again cause i am using MOZILLA FIREFOX and i love the tabbed browsing and anyway i pressed a key sequence on accident and closed this tabb and have to type this all overr so read this...

Well i am still waiting for my OTA the people who got it u guys are sooo lucky..Since i found out about this i've been waiting by my phone to show the poopup screen promting me to install...no luck yet...Well Congratulations everyone..and i have a question..does usage of data service affect the probalilities of getting them or not gettting them...cause my phone doesnt want the data to work on my phone so im getting frustrated...well email me at jdhi8833@tmail.com

thats what they did with 2.0 everyone seemed to get it at night, i got it at 2am, while i was working overnight lol

yeah i didnt have a SK2 when that last update came. so this is a first for me. hah do it make a sound when u get it now do it notify you that the update is ready other then u lookin at the screen?

I can't remember, but I think it just puts the screen up. maybe someone can clarify this, that just got the update.

omg I got 2.3! hofo works perfect

I can finally use smilies!!! rhe front hofo page laods perfect, this is like browsing from the comp!!! the redirects finally work. just be patient everyone I'd thought I'd never get it, and boom last night it was ready to update. really does make it feel like a new device. I'm typing from it right, to post this message.

so early this morning my phone shut off becuz the battery ran out. I plugged it in and noticed that the little 7 thing was doing alot of moving. So i pressed menu went to network status and saw that the mb was at 2.0. I was like hey.. thats odd i havent done anything on the phone. I check it again and it was at 3.4. So i thought i must be getting the update. and sure enough when it reached over 3.9mb i got the update within minutes..... its cool.... all i need now is a new case( not holding case) my this one is jacked up...

That's cool. I'm glad that the pages look like they're suppose to now and load faster. I still haven't gotten mine. Every hour I check my SK2 and nothing. Maybe I will get it during the morning hours.

just turn off the java when not browsing i got an error message saying java script can not load delete some apps and ring tones for more memory but thats bs cuase i just reloaded the page and it was cool but the 2.3 for me is cool the aim lags a little but will see

Mom,

OTA is an acronym for Over The Air update which is how you get software upgrades to the device (they're delivered "over the air" automatically to you). The new upgrade adds a lot of cool functionality to the web browser and AIM client, and adds some text features (like undo/redo when editing emails and notes) and a number of other options.

You don't need to do anything to get the update - it wil get delivered to your phone automatically and you'll get a pop-up box asking if you want to install the upgrade now or later. It takes about 5 minutes to install the upgrade, and then your downloaded applications (from the catalog) will be redownloaded/upgraded automatically after that.
