The area by the jeans does looks fake.

Posted by: Omega2008

I think its photoshopped....that is not now IE shows webpages on a PPC device. The screen is from a WM2003SE PPC. The scroll bars give it away. However am not an expert on photoshopped pictures and what not so I don't really know what to make of it.

And how does that suggest a february release?

Posted by: TheTrueStar

Now, Why do you say thaT?

Posted by: Jakaroe808

Im gunna have to go with real. I use photoshop and Fireworks a lot and Im looking for things that most people would do wrong when meshing photos. There are things like the shadow stretch on the raised key that most people would miss. Also, all the shadow perspectives look right, and focus points as well. I'll pull the pic and saturate the color when I get back to my comp. I'll let you all know if I get the same color degradation/pixelation evenly over the entire photo, and I think I will. I think I'm sold. If I'm wrong than Nitroxeno, I hope your getting paid for work like that.

Send it to this guy:

This guy is the best of debunking fake photos.

Wow, That guy kinda scares me..

Edit: No he really does scare me. He is a nut case.

That's what I thought. Then I actually took the time to look at the photos and see his comments. What will scare you is that you'll find yourself having to agree with his conclusions.

A relative of mine knows him rather well, and apparently he does this in his spare time. He is actually considered one of the top photographic experts in the country and he is often used as a photographic expert in court.

Posted by: Jakaroe808

No. I think there is probably more than one yellow and black helicopter warning sign in that area.. Whatever, I don't know much about the moon, but I know a lot about the hole in the middle of NYC, but that is for a whole nother forum.

I can ensure you that it will not be a February release....

Cingular got me going krazy over this phone... I know i am going krazy... I check this forum about 5 times a day for updates.... I might have to break down and get the K-Jam or Qtek from MMB, and just sell it on ebay when the 8125 comes out.

Posted by: Jakaroe808

I dont think cingular got us all like this. I think "we" all did it, but I know how you feel. I'm checking this thread almost every half hour, when I can. Thats bad.

Hold out.. You know you want it

Posted by: vpathak

I am just eager to know the "real" realease date. I too am like some of you...checking this forum atleast 7 times a day to get updates.

- Cingular 8125 desiree

Posted by: Docsalvo

I just spoke to a cingular rep.....according to them, after they "researched it"...said just prior to christmas...8125 as well as a few other new releases.....just another date perhaps..

Posted by: myke

My post was a joke. Obviously. Haha

Posted by: nitroxeno

Wow eveyone do you really think I have that much free time on my hand to photoshop a picture of a phone lol. I wish I could tell you more but I really don't know much... I have been checking here every day for all my info just like the rest of you so I know how you all feel. Just thought It might make the wait a little easyer if you all saw the device in final form. Sorry about the low res pics but all I had was my Treo.

Posted by: dma

nice pics....so what do you think of the keyboard?

Posted by: diadjika

how did you get the phone ??

Posted by: nitroxeno

Keyboard is very nice... much better then on my treo. The hand writing recognition works great too... And I don't have the phone yet... I only got to play with it for a few min.

Posted by: Omega2008

I am guessing he works for Cingular.

Posted by: diadjika

so i guess cingular has the phone in stock

Posted by: Omega2008

They may have them in stock in a warehouse...but they are not availble to purchace yet. Hell they may have a whole crap load of them and may choose not to release them until the updates comming in January can be applied to the phone.

Posted by: suavebaby

Yo the pictures are nice... you are one luck guy... Now you will have to ask a thousand of questions for us...

Question #1 Does it have everything or did Cingular cripple anything like wifi..etc.. ?
Question # Can you give us an overview of your experience with the 8125, maybe a little review of something.

Thanks Nitro... You are the man!

Sorry thought that was a given lol.. I wish that I could answer everyones question but I really only had it for about 5 min.... Plus not sure what I'm allowed to talk about and don't really want to get in trouble lol. I can tell you that it is very sweet... Only had time to try out the wifi... works great... tried the camera... looks great... and as you saw pulled up a few websites.. I really like the landscape full screen mode in the browser. As for release date its looking to be before xmas but don't quote me.

Posted by: Omega2008

Well when ever it comes out...it won't be until January before I get one. I am thinking about buying a jasjar and changing the hardware on it...haha I am probably going to mess that up! Just like I did with my fabled MPx 300.

Posted by: Rock3nrenigade

You had an MPx300? That was the phone that made me want to switch over to GSM !

Posted by: myke

yeah, where did you get the phone? do you work for cingular? what do you think of it?

Posted by: Omega2008

I still have a MPx 300....I MPx 300 with a fried processor haha.

Yes he works for Cingular....He just said he did in his previous post.

the 8700c has been up for a few days now, but it looks as if the 5600 just dropped off today.

Just Wait I guess.

It could be that is when stores are getting, possibly B2B will get them first.

WHEN! WHEN! WHEN! The local Cingular Rep. was able to show me the Pic's and general info in a binder he had but there was no release date!

I hope it comes out before the end of the year, but I am not holding my breath.

I'm sure there are plenty of other people here to confirm this, but according to the Cingular store manager local to me, B2B and retail outlets all get phones at the same time (unlike the past, re: MPx220).

That wasn't true witht he Blackberry 7100g
b2b got it before the shops

im hoping for it to be released before the 24th. hopefully that rebate is promising in the fact that it will be out before then.

I'm looking at the refurb treo 650 at $139 use it then sell it when the 8125 comes out ?
I have 2 Cingular accounts and both are eliagable for a upgrades
I was planning on getting a 2125 and 8125 but getting inpatiant
I'm trying very hard not to get the 650 at $139 and use it until the 8125 comes out.
but I need my WEB and email. I sold my smt5600 and using a basic phone
$139 is not that bad how is the Web on the Treo can I surf full size webpages like on a smartphone ?

Is this a good move ?

I don't know if it is a good move. Te Treo 650 constintly resets. At least it did for me. The web on thetreo is good. It can surf full sized webpages but it's not as good as the 8125 will be when it comesto surfing the web. (I know because I own a Pocket PC and the webpages are more better on there).

We've all kind of known the 2100 would have no WiFi for a while now due to the FCC memos leaked. It does appear the T-Mobile's variation will have WiFi next year. Poor move on Cingular's part if you ask me, but also T-Mobile does have their Wireless network so it's a better selling point for them. We're just lucky to get WiFi on the 8125.

And I'll take the "rumor" with a grain of salt as far as the delay til next year.

Posted by: Omega2008

A PPC without wifi is a PPC thats lacking half of having a Windows Mobile Device is all about. Most every PPC now has wi-fi...its a standard now.

Posted by: Jakaroe808

I'm not sure what other photos your talking about but I would imagine you saw the Qtek 9100 or i-mate K-jam styled Wizard. If you’re talking about why this 8125 looks more "square" than the one in the PhoneScoop article, than it is because there are two different styles of the Wizard. The 8125 in this thread is what you will, "eventually" see released by Cingular.

Posted by: mprugg

What is going to be the best and quickest channel to get this phone ASAP? i.e. Where can I buy this phone? We don't pay for our employees cells so we don't have a B2B rep I deal with...

Posted by: exchguy

Keep in mind that the Orange release (i.e. C600) does not have WiFi either. If you really want it on a Smartphone, then pick up the Imate Sp5/Sp5m. Its not that much more than a no-contract price.

I have the Wifi on my Jasjar, and really outside of the home I rarely use it. I guess if you are frequenting coffee shops, Kinko's, etc. and airports that offer it (without have to pay for a Wifi plan) then WiFi is worthwhile.

That said, with the release of the 8125 I am dumping Smartphone and going back to PPC Phone (as I already have with the Jasjar). I really like the phone first functionality of the Smartphone but just not enough new things in the 2125 to make it a killer device.

Posted by: Omega2008

Why would you want the 8125 when you have a Jasjar?

Posted by: autigers20

i know i could saerch and find this information, but since everyone's just killing time here, what makes the wizard so much better than the universal?

Posted by: Omega2008

The Universal is better from a PDA stand point....its damn near a laptop replacement. Only problem(s) are that it doesn't have the 850 band and its UMTS band is not compatable with Cingulars UMTS band. Not only that but is much bigger. It would be the device I would get but without 850 band I wouldn't have any service or limited service. The Wizard does everything that the Jasjar can do. The universal is like an upgrade to the wizard. Better screen, sound and all that jazz. You can read all about it in the PPC form...

Now..back on topic.

Posted by: exchguy

Quote:

Right on about the Universal...The smaller form factor, 850mhz and EDGE support will be the biggest things for me that does lack on the Jasjar as much as I like it. VGA screen is really nice to have..I will definately keep the Jasjar, as my job as an IT consultant allows me to demo different mobile devices for clients.

If the 8125 price point is as reasonable as it has been rumored to be, I won't have to spend a whole lot to pick up the 8125 when it does come out (hopefully within the next few weeks!).

Hello folks. I'm David, and I am a new poster, but have been visiting this thread for a couple weeks or more. I too am anxious for the 8125 release. While I wait, I thought I might purchase gear.

Can any of you provide URLs for some BT stereo headphones that are compatible with 8125. It appears that Hewlett Packard and Bluetake lead the market on this item. I also saw one at http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?in...1&cpc=SCH&srm=0 at geeks.com

Does anyone have any advice? Also, where's a good source for mini-SDs ? Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Well, as for bluetooth stereo headphones, currently the wm5 pocket pcs don't have the A2DP bluetooth stack in them. This is the stack that is used with audio playback and control. So, in effect, bluetooth headphones don't work with them. This, however, is scheduled to change with the release of the microsoft patch that is coming in jan/feb. So hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

As for the mini-sd, I recently bought one on amazon for about 75 with free shipping. Just look around.

Zach

Posted by: orion2087

Hmm, I actually have a question that someone can probably answer.. =P

The 8125 will be my first pocket pc phone on my list. I've had smartphones, and I've had pocket pcs, but not never combined them. They were always too big!

My question is, on my smartphone it will not let me access data while on a voice call. Is the same carried over with pocket pc phones?

Posted by: Omega2008

The phone has nothing to do with that. You simply can not use GPRS while on call, on any GSM phone. I don't think you can on CDMA but I am not sure.

GPRS including EDGE, correct?

Anyone have any idea about the CDMA?

It depends on the device. Most do not, but a few allow this. I believe it is referred to as Class A, B or C where Class A allows simultaneous data and voice.

Posted by: nskgti23

You can not use voice and data on anything other than WCDMA and I believe EV-DV...

You are correct however, most GSM devices are B. Mainly because a Class A device has to have two radios one strickly for voice the other for data.

Most of Cingulars phones and devices are class B I haven't seen a class A phone in a long time.

EDGE is GPRS...just a faster version of it. The fact is that the 8125 is a class A GSM device. So you won't be able to use both data and voice. I can only imagine having two radios trying to work at the same time...the battery life would be horrendous.

I have an old Sony Ericson T610 (TMobile) and even though it is a Class B device it handles simultaneous data and voice if you recieve a call while online, but it won't place a call unless the GPRS is disconnected.

Posted by: Omega2008

I don't think so....I used to have a t610 before I got my first smartphone (MPx 200)....I could not use GPRS data in any form while on a phone call. I was with Cingular. If you were using the browser maybe you were looking at a cached page.

Edit: I just read what you typed a little more clearly haha. If you are using GPRS a phone call can come thru, but GPRS disconnects and you can not use GPRS WHILE on a voice call. It won't happen. A class B device on the other hand can. Every phone can recieve a call if the phone is using GPRS. Some phone have to be set up do that....some don't. But thats not simotaniously using voice and data. GPRS is disconnected when a call comes through.

Posted by: Sanjoseweb

I know that we are straying off-topic here, but I remember being able to use my tethered IPAQ to access data while on a call. This was with TMobile. The phone is unlocked, so I can throw my Cingular blue SIM in it when I get home and do a test.

Posted by: Omega2008

Your iPAQ maybe a class A device. But yes try it out....if it works it has to be a class A device. There is a website that I saw that had alot of info on this......I will see if I can find it.

It's not much bigger than the 6682 with the keyboard closed and I think the Treo 650 is actually a tad bigger, heavier definately.

Does anyone know if the 8125 has the capability to "hotsync" if you will, to your computer? Like a palm pilot would so that you have your data in the handheld (this case the 8125) as well as your pc....in case the handheld (8125) resets and loses all of its info it can be restored via your pc.

The short answer is yes it does. It's called ActiveSync. This isn't really a good thread to get into what exactly it does or doesn't do though, so I'd recommend visiting the Microsoft Windows Mobile site to read up on Windows Mobile 5. That's the OS that's on the 8125 (and the 2125 as well since that was mentioned in this thread as well).

Good grief yes man! You need to read up on Pocket PCs and their abilities or you'll be paying for a product you may not need! That's teh point of a PPC!

Firstly..its woman

Secondly, its just a question...

Thirdly, are we not here to find out more info on this product? or here to post snide responses?

Fourthly, since it is not out yet, isnt it in my best interest to find out about this product? I am assuming your answer would be yes...so how do you propose I do this, without asking a question?

But thank you so much for your ill response, apparently someone is on their soapbox this morning.

Yea it's sad to hear this stuff, but the phone isn't out and I really wouldn't depend on what is said about the phone since it can change.

Now the WM5 OS is another story. You can learn more about it from MS and that information may be more accurate.

BTW; it does sync and eventually be able to do push email like Blackberry. It also has versions of some of the MS Office app's on most desktops. Witch means as a word file travels with you it can be edited and then sync back to your desktop.

Hope that helps.

I guess I was under the false assumption that if someone was looking at a PocketPC Smartphone, aka a WINDOWS Smartphone, they'd understand that part of the allure is that it's a PDA and phone, which means that the PDA functions would inherently sync with a PC or Mac (depending on your flavor of choice).

Gotta get used to it. WM5 is getting popular and people will want to know what the buzz is about.

If your in sales it's going to be a money machine. Just be polite, show them, and get out of the way.

If its like the K-Jam (which it probably will be) , unfortunately it lacks that "streaming text conversation" format that Treo users know and love...

Yes, sms is a universal feature and all phones on cingular have this feature. I use a smartphone at the moment and it's texting feature is "just like" what I had on my moto v600. Hope that helps.

If you know anything about outlook, you know it is far superior to Palm's calendar and contact solution. Maybe you use outlook at the office, or just use it for your email. However you use it, you can sync it all to your PPC or smartphone using ActiveSync. If you dont use outlook and haven’t experienced it capabilities, you should. Like stated above, there are also mobile office apps in Windows Mobile 5, so now you'll be able to view and edit many of your desktop projects on the go. I cant wait

Yea... each and every place I look up on yahoo I click to put in my Yahoo address book then sync to Outlook/WM5. Anytime you need to remember where someplace is(or call them) just open pocket Outlook or in Streets and trips or another GPS enabled mapping/route program.

Please be advised it's addictive as some use it just to know where they are.

What is that? not sure I'm following. Could you PM me and give me some details on that? sounds like something I will have to check out.

Well, all indications point to a dec 12th or more likely a dec 19th release.. assuming cingular wants it out before christmas. If thats $450 price point still, I'll be happier then i was as a boy in the 80's getting my optimus prime figure. =D

That phone looked pretty neat, if you're really into taking pics/video.. although Symbian looks like the mac of smartphones to me, having never used it. How's the OS working out for you?

Hopefully cingular does something about this because after using the treo, I would hate to go back to non-conversational formatted text messaging. O2 released SMS Plus with theirs, it does what the treo did:

O2 SMS Plus
O2 SMS Plus is a unique application that lets users chat via SMS, with messages from both parties displayed onscreen in an instant messaging format. This allows users to conveniently view their chat history and carry on a real-time conversation on their screens.

O2 SMS Plus lets you • Send and receive SMS messages via a chat style user interface;
• View incoming and outgoing SMS messages in the same list window;
• Write an SMS and schedule its delivery;
• Send SMS messages to multiple recipients;
• Send and receive vCard contacts via SMS from compatible devices supporting SMS vCard transmission; and
• Search for SMS messages that contain a search string.

Posted by: Rock3nrenigade

Why wouldnt you be able to download that O2 program?

Posted by: Omega2008

You could put this on the 8125. The question is, where can you download it from?

Posted by: Rock3nrenigade

I think we need to find someone with O2 and that has a PPC device

Well it looks like O2 SMS plus is only on the XDA Atom.....I don't think its out yet and I don't know anyone with it it. I did however find a today screen plugin called O2 Plus.

O2 Plus (download through O2 Connect)
O2 Plus is an application manager to give you control over the running applications and it comes with 7 Today items that provide the user a wealth of information on the Today screen about operator name, battery, memory, names of running applications, alarms, sound profile, call divert status, tasks and appointments statusus.

O2 Plus provides an addition of 7 custom items for inclusion into Today screen. • Network operator - Supports operator name display and call divert profiles
• Last call - Shows caller name or phone number of last phone call
• Sound Profile - Shows current sound profile and allows change of sound profile when tapped.
• Meters - Shows amount of battery power remaining and amount of memory space left in main storage, storage and storage card
• Calendar - Shows all appointments within the next 10 days. You can control the no. of display lines in option settings.
• Shortcuts - Shows shortcuts to various applications.
• Running apps - Shows all running applications

I really just don't see the point of waving your candy in the community's face, regardless of intention. Perhaps from some 14 year old, but I would expect someone that trumpets themselves as a supermoderater at a site such as MGN to display a bit more maturity.

No offence intended really, just my two cents.

Dude I am just haveing some fun with you guys. It was a joke. I share alot of things and that is my goal here. Why the hell do you think I am here helping people out when they ask for it? For the hell of it? No, thats not it. Everybody who knows me, knows that I share information that I can and I do my best to help people out. If you think otherwise, thats your problem.

I didn't wave anything, especially since I don't have it if you read my post above.

secondly, I don't trumpet myself as anyone. Not once will you find me comment my moderator status to anyone. I am no different from anyone else here.

I am sorry but your attentions are clear and you were being offensive, but thats your progative. If you have anymore comments about me, take it to a PM.

For all those who would like to download the O2 Plus plugin you can get it here: http://www.howardforums.com/showpos...661&postcount=1

speaking of the o2, there are XDA Mini S units on ebay for 589.99. this is at least $100 cheaper than a 9100 and the k-jams. is there a reason to NOT get this model if i'm tired of waiting for the 8125?

Posted by: Omega2008

Does it have WM5?

Posted by: scott brown

yep. it seems to be an o2 branded wizard, just priced a lot lower.

yeah i was just kidding, i like omega hes a cool guy. he knows im joking.

aside from that, whats the xda mini? is it smaller than the 8125

Posted by: scott brown

there's an xda mini, which might be the same as the imate jam. the xda mini s (also known as the xda mini pro in some countries) is a wizard. as far as i can tell, it's the same wizard the k-jam and qtek 9100 are, the wizard 200.

So... I've been using the Siemens SX66 w/ WM2003 and let me tell you - it sucks. I've been patient with the device (coming from the v600 to smartphone was a major move). What I've liked: email, touch screen, HUGE address book sync'd with outlook and web browser. What really sucks is the browser is IE 4. That's right - old tech. Old speed too with 56K. The BIGGEST problem apart from the poor bluetooth integrataion (don't risk updating the ROM b/c Cingular doesn't accept a device for exchange if you've played around with upgrading software on the WM device)... is the reliability of this phone. It looses a signal on the phone and you have to reboot 2-3 times a day. Why even bother with this device if it can't even hold a signal - right? So.... I can't take it anymore. Been watching and waiting for the new HTC phones to come out - for months. Check in every other day hoping it would be "the day" for this device... and now I'm confused. What I like the most about these devices - versatility - is in question for me. If Cingular can't support this previous device - my SX66, what makes me think this will be better. WM5 or not... doesn't matter in my opinion. Like I said earlier, if it can't receive a call, why even have this "toy" and call it smart (it's really a dumbtoy). Now I've been forced to look closer at the new Blackberry (BB). I'm not one to be scared by their patent pressures either - they won't or can't go "black" and be turned off. The company who holds the patents can't "afford" for that to happen either. SOOOOOOO, back to my question, why should I wait for this unproven technology that will never be covered by insurance, have unknown bugs that won't be supported by Cingular?????? Someone please help me on this one. I've already convinced myself the BB is going to be my new phone just this past week b/c it's more stable and this HTC WIzard or whatever it's been nicknamed is nice only as a toy. Anyone want to pull me back to the HTC camp.... please!

Well....by the looks of it you should be ok with it. I didn't research it but make sure its quad band or at least supports the 850 band...I didn't look to see if it did. Other than that it maybe what you are looking for if you are tired of wating for the 8125.

Posted by: scott brown

the only problem i see is that some sites show EDGE, others have no mention of it. but if the ebay auction says EDGE and there isn't any, i'd say that's grounds for a return...

Posted by: Quatre

so I'm assuming that that O2 streaming/chat/im sms app works on any wm5 device like the ppc or xv6700 as well?

That was/is a nice feature on the Treo and would be nice to have something similiar on the Wizard and Apache.

Posted by: jeasher

So has any new info come out to start the week?

Posted by: daveinpa

Yes- BB is quad band including EDGE. If I could somehow get it to tether to my laptop w/o problem, I think I would be more ecstatic about this device... but somehow they blocked it. Anyway, the BB is a nice machine - and the most reliable in this league. Here's a link to it: http://blackberry.com/products/blac...erry8700c.shtml

Posted by: Jakaroe808

The 8700 looks huge in her hand.

I'm coming from a WM2003 SP and there is just no way I could go to a blackberry. I think that if you dont feel like you fit with WM and the BB does all you need it to do, than go for it. I have never had more than a couple hours on one, and my main concern would be syncing to my laptop. The integration between WM devices and WinXP is becoming very powerful, and it is only going to get better, IMHO.

I couldn't agree more. Trust me, I love what my SX66 (WM2003) device can do... when it works. That's the heart of the issue for me - reliability. I hear about the new ActivSync issue and just wonder if this will ever work the way IT SHOULD HAVE from day one. Just don't have the warm and fuzzy about this device. If Cingular launched earlier (November), I would already have one. The longer this is dragged out, the longer I have to think I need to wait another year before this type of device is ready for prime time. That's my only point in all this - I thought the SX66 would do what it should do - but if you heard some of my problems with my other device, you too would be on the fence about putting some faith back in your device.

I appreciate your feedback and hope I can switch back over to the WM2005 camp - and I'm a big MS fan BTW - just haven't been convinced the hype is going to be there for me on the usability/reliability side of life. Anyone know firsthand how the bluetooth works on this device (reliable connection with headset? and ability for a BT workaround to tether laptop to EDGE network?) also the reset button - did they ever fix the problem WM2003 had to hold a connection (without relying on the reset button 2-3 times a day)? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Posted by: exchguy

Blackberries are great if you are looking for easy to use push email and you are looking for a phone. Windows Mobile devices have advantages on running applications. Although there are some apps for BB, there aren't many but most who carry BB devices just need basic email and phone features, they don't need to run applications. And yes, you will still have resets with WM 5.0 devices.

That said, lets get back on topic for the 8125 before Tripy shuts this thread down. As the BB vs. WM discussion really belongs in the Pocket PC/Windows mobile area.

So the post in here where the person said the 12th or 19th would be a possible release date, why those dates? why not anywhere from the 13th - 19th?

Posted by: Jakaroe808

It was also stated that phones are released on Mondays and sometimes Tuesdays.

oh ok cool. well in any event, i've already began getting programs for the 8125...

What does this mean?

Posted by: ats

Just spoke with telesales and they said the phone will definitely be released on 12/16. Take this info for whatever it is worth.

Posted by: Jakaroe808

ats, is the 12/16 release date for retail or B2B sales? Did they say?

that would be a Fri...?

Posted by: myke

can anyone else confirm this?

Posted by: Jakaroe808

Well, I just talked to a really friendly telesales guy, and asked about the 8125. He looked it up on phone scoop while I was on the line and then tried to find it in the system. He said it was in the system with it "noted", as to suggest that cingular will carry it, but could not give me any specifics about a date. He just said it could be any day.

For what thats worth....

Posted by: ats

no word on whether its telesales or b2b. However I was on the phone with telesales. The lady on the phone was very nice and spent some time talking to her supervisor and looking through her systems. One of my better cs experiences with Cingular.

This may be a stupid question but what is B2B? and can the "regular" people order from them?

It stands for Business to Business. Generally when something like this comes out it's only made available to business customers first since it's considered a business-cenric device. That usually means a regular person has to wait until the formal release of the product.

I believe you just need to be a Business level customer with Cingular. I'm not sure how all that works, but I'm pretty sure that just calling them and saying you're a business won't cut it.

My company is such a company, and I will be able to get one of these through them when it's released. In fact, one of my coworkers (higher level executive) has already demo'd the 8125. Our Cingular rep brought it in to show him a couple of weeks ago.

Take it for what it's worth. I hope he's wrong as some have suggested.

At the time he didn't know. He only brought over a pre-release version from the "network guys", so he had no idea at the time. See my post just before this to see what he says today.

Yes the O2 app is stable. Its been around for a while, haven't heard any complaints about it. PIE sucks.....but I don't like opera either. So I am waiting for a "better" alternitive. There are many apps for the PPC platform....it depends on what you want to do. I would go to www.handango.com or www.smartphone.net and look around at all the apps that the PPC supports. They even have user reviews there. If you want more feedback on certian apps, go to the PPC forum.

Long time lurker... first time poster.

Anyways, I've been watching this thread since the day deets on the phone were released, and have been anxious to get the phone ever since. I have a regional rep at Cingular I know, and contacted him today as to what the deal with the phone is. He just called me back after talking to several people 'up there' and broke the news to me that the tentative release isn't until around mid-January. So everyone, just a heads up, don't get your hopes up to get your hands on this baby before Christmas. It's OK, I'm just as dissappointed as everyone else.

Opera does suck. I would be a fan if there was an easy way to get my IE favorites imported. I havent found a way. It's just like XP. Opera wants to make it a problem and take over but if they cant comply, they just lose... Opera, you suck. dont spend the money on a cra* browser.

<ftxPBrowser for Pocket PC 2002>
<ftxPBrowser for Windows Mobile 2003>

so no WM5 unlees the WM 2003 will work?

speaking of browsing I agree IE and all forms including pie suck. I also prefer Firefox so hopefully they hear us and make a mobile version.

About the comments earlier about blackberry devices being only good for email and having good phone features. So for browsing a WM pocket pc phone is still the best right? and yes over palm os as blazer browser sucks and is slow.

Can a WM5 device match calendar and task list of palm os though? as I use those apps every dat.

I believe what he's referring to is the issue where some of the Wizards will drop their GPRS connection, and have to have the radio cycled to get it back. I too have not read all the posts, but I believe that's the gist of it.

Verizon does tend to promote upcoming devices more. They did the same with the Samsung i730. I also don't understand why Cingular does not do more to promote these devices to build up interest before the release. I guess just a different business approach in how they are marketed.

Daveinpa,
I understand your frustration and concern. I can only tell you I order a Wizard (qtek 9100) from MMB and I love it. I have had it for a week and have been able to quickly work through 99% of my problems. Popped in my cingular SIM and fired it right up. No need to mess with extended rom, removing software, etc. Took 30 seconds to do the GPRS settings. I can make receive calls, sync w/ outlook, access my W2003 server for files using wifi-G, listen to mp3's at the grocery store, text w/ clients and family, etc. Only thing I have not been able to do is make it use wifi instead of GPRS for internet access (any hints anyone?), but I'm sure I'll figure it out. I am not normally an early adopter because I don't like having to debug other peoples work, but I so far I am completely happy with my new 9100. I don't know if this will help 'talk you down' but I gave it my best shot.

A'vich

i have the 9100 and had to upgrade my sim card to the new 64k one. apperantly they have more info on the sim for PDA phones. when i went to the cingular store to do this the person seemed completely normal about doing this, like they do it all the time and it was no big deal. GPRS works great now. about the wifi. mine just starts using the wifi about a min after i connect. sometimes it uses gprs first but then switches over. the only way i can tell is by how fast the pages are loading. love the phone, the bug i can't fix is speaker phone. its loud on my end but the other end says i sound like i'm a mile away. i hope its software with the mic which i think it is because recording from the mic sounds okay.

Hypothetically, if I were contemplating jumping the gun on the 8125 and purchasing one of the WIZ200 variants I should look for one that lists GPRS in the tech stats to ensure compatibility with Cingular’s data access?

after hearing a few of these bugs i just got flashbacks of the horrid mpx220. I would rather wait a couple more weeks for this phone than have one that has these annoying bugs. Hopefully cingular is getting these fixed. If theyre just delaying it due to scheduling reasons... *shakes fist in air*

I ghost around here alot watching, but to let everyone know, my computer vendor is a distrubor for B2B and i received and email from them with a tenative date for them to receive the 8125 on 12/9. The company is PCMall.

This just sucks... I don't know if I can keep waiting. Every month the release date is a month away, and I'm sick of it. I'm not sure If I'm going to stay with SP and get the 2125 or pick up a 9100, but I need something to play with until then. This is getting rediculous.

Now ^that^ sounds more like it. How reliable is your source?

12/9 would be nice. i wish someone would make a list of all the past and future tentative release dates for this phone. it would be a funny looking list.

Posted by: kjoiner

that is like 3 days away?

Posted by: Jakaroe808

That list would be interesting. Yeah, the 9th is three days away.. That seems like a longshot.

Maybe they ment the 2125.

Interesting, by searching PC Mall for 'Cingular' I found listings for 'CINGULAR ORANGE 8100' and "CINGULAR ORANGE 2125"

I would think that if they get it in on the 9th, maybe the 12th is the Release date.

Just more idle speculation, but isn't that what this thread is about.

What about this at sister site eCost:

Normal RSS feeds don't work very well with all the new threads and posts. It is do-able, but requires some code. Vonage's RSS only displays threads that are hot, but as you can imagine you miss allot.
