Is the S710a good now?

Are the S710as that Cingular is selling right now have the updated firmware which fixed the slowness in the Menus? If they are faster then the V551s menus now and if I can get it for $99 dollars in about 2 months, I think it might be a better deal then the Z520a.

The firmware was updated sime time ago. At least one advantage to the s710a is lower SAR.

I like the S710a...now if I can find some good screen protectors that won't attract lint then it's good to go. The ones I have right now get lint on them too easily and I have to replace them over and over.

It's an AWESOME phone, but it's just too big for my tastes (so is the TREO 650, but for what it does, I can live with it ). I don't use it that much. The pocketability of the RAZR spoiled me. I'm trying to hold out for the RAZR 2, so I'm carrying the Nokia 6101 now, and it's pretty sweet for a CHEAP phone.

Well thanks for the responses. Even after almost 1 year of service with Cingular, the S710a is still on the higher end of their phone spectrum and the price has come down a lot.

Another question, will java games from the V551 or the Nextel i730 work on this phone.?

They should, although it can't be guaranteed. The S710a probably uses a slightly different implementation and version of the Java Runtime Environment, plus the screen is a much higher resolution. It's worth a shot, anyway.
