I was thinking of buying a few until I get my memory card, but uh.. what's the deal with Bell not offering any for this phone? Of course it can support them, so how come they don't show up on http://www.myapplications.ca ?

Bell is not offering any content for the e815 right now, wait for your transflash card or upload your own content with a USB Data Cable.

Yeah I guess I'll just wait for my card. I don't want to buy a cable because it would be a waste of money once I get my card.

Not really, I picked up mine for $35 dollars canadian in Mississauga. And it allows you to enable a lot of stuff that Bell has turned off via seem edits, or chaning start up animation, delete stock photos, etc.

...go on, I'm listening...

-Changing the picture server since Bells does not work smoothly with the e815(and getting free pic uploads).

-Changing the external LCD banner.

-Putting mp3s on my phone and testing the headphone quality before I receive my transflash card and run out of time to return the phone if it sucks.
(btw, the mp3 quality is better then I could of hoped for, and I'm a tough customer.)

-Retrieving my 'subsidy' code from a seem so I could unlock the Diag Menu and change Data Speeds, and adjust Web Sessions file.

-Enabling advanced GPS settings (Always/Request/Never).

-Overwriting the camera shutter sound.

-Enabling video quality settings.

umm I guess thats just about it?

TrueTone files are available now on the e815 (although it's a rather weak selection for now) as well as polyphonic tones and screensavers. The phone is finally listed on the download site. Games should appear soon.

Guys, the easy way to get mp3 ringtones on the phone for free is to do the following:

1- Get a program called Audacity, it's free. This allows you to edit your mp3's. You should make the ringer 15 seconds and do a fade at the end so it sounds clean. Then save it as a .wav file.

2- Next download Lame and RazorLame. RazorLame is a GUI to Lame which allows you to downconvert Mp3s. You should choose the following settings:

Lame Settings:
Bitrate: 64 or 96
Mode: Mono.

3 - Next you should load the 15 .wav file you saved and then once the settings are changes, click Encode and voila an Mp3 ringtone.

4 - Transfer the mp3 to the phone via Data cable or TransFlash card. The problem is that the ringtone must be saved to the phone's internal memory to allow it to be used as a ringtone and it is not possible to copy directly from the Transflash card to the Phone's memory. (Blocked feature to make you download Bell Ringtones which can be enabled with a seem edit). To circumvent this, simply create a text message and attach the ringtone to the message. Address it to 555-5555. The delivery will fail however the ringtone will now be in your outbox. You can then save it to the internal phone memory and use it as a ringtone!

Most bell stores carry this? For $35, I think this is worth it! I'm guessing it's different than the cable I signed up for when I got the phone?

If you already have lame, audacity has the ability to encode mp3's.
Audacity will ask to locate lame when you do the encode.
File>Prefs>file formats is where you find the bit rate settings.
I use Audacity to chapterize podcasts to burn to cd.
Audacity is a nice program, especially considering it's free.
