Looks like a decent phone, BT 2.0 +EDR

And its nice to see the Non-3G varient is Quad band, nice work, Nokia!

Finally! now let's hope it gets picked up by cingular.
If it does,we might see it probably in Q2 of '06,Cingular takes so long to release new phones.

I would expect to see a lot more articles like this with 3G rollin here real soon...

Would be great if it were s60

I'm just psyched to see that headset makers are giving us the attention we deserve!

People aren't picking up on the fact that the article does not list this phone to be including 850mhz. Either this is an error, or there is no 850mhz. If not, we know that cingular will not be picking up this phone. It would not make sense, however, to have a phone 1900mhz UMTS capable without it featuring 850mhz, so I am concluding that the article gives the phone incorrect specs, or that the article has bogus information on the phone itself.

Oh, I know it doesn't have 850MHz, but Nokia is going quad band more and more now, the big problem is that WCDMA is found on 2100 everywhere else...

Yea this was my question to. BUT- What I had been hearing about Cingular's UMTS/HSDPA is that they are moving voice over onto it because it offers more callers per channel. If they move over to that will the lack of 850 band be as big of an issue?

I would like to also point out that this phone is umts only --- it doesn't have HSDPA.

I don't have my reference, but it seams Nokia is expanding on their naming scheme. An example would be a 6201,6202,6203, etc. Each number using the same basic model, but is adapted for a specific technology(country/frequency) combination.

I also saw as interview with the CEO of the company that produces what is now called a “GSM module”. He explained that when GSM phones first came out the inside was littered with components now they are moving the components into one module and making them smaller and cheaper.

Now, in my world I would like to see them be like a compact flash card(SIM included) so you could switch them out kind of like a day/night phone on one account.

Anymore info. on this phone? Sounds promising if it does indeed have 850 rather than (or in addition to) GSM 900. Should be smaller than the 6270 too

The official press rlease says the camera is 1-megapixel. More info here if you like: http://www.about-nokia.com/blog/item-173.html
