someone asked so i figured i'd share since i had to type it out once

under data accounts do this

apn: internet.com/goam.com
username: wapuser1
password: wap

apn: media.com
username: media
password: mda01

exit

then go to internet settings>create new profile
name:rogers/media/internet etc..etc..
connect using

ne of the data accounts above

internet.com and goam.com
then exit out and go to a profile and click "more", settings, change to wap, 208.200.067.150

media.com
then exit out and go to a profile and click "more", settings, change to wap, 172.025.000.107

leave everything else.. as is.. if you want go to more>advanced and change homepage to whatever you want.

for mms go to mailbox, settings, picture messages
message server http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
profile is : the rogers media profile you setup.

In case anyone didn't know Sony Ericsson will send carrier settings directly to your phone. It works for all SE phones (unlocked as well) I just sent the settings to my W850 and MMS works.

SE site sends the wrong ip..
change the last 151 to a 150

so from 208.200.067.151 to 208.200.067.150

^Yeah I followed the instrucion in this thread and it finally connects now.

Though I think I'm getting some incompatibility issue on Rogers homepage with the NetFront browser after debrading, Opera Mini seems to work a bit better.

i flashed my k790a to generic firmware for the mp3 ringtones, so I had to get the mms & internet settings again

for some reason when I had the settings sent from the SE website, the mms worked fine, but the internet didnt want to connect

I even changed the lact octet to ".150" as mentioned above

i decided to try the other settings as mentioned by shaloin monk, the ones for the "media.com" and their corresponding IP, and now it works, great. Got eMsn and Opera Mini

just a heads up.

I've got a K750i and I'm having a little trouble setting up my WAP and MMS.
Do you think you could give more simplified instructions? Am I to create a internet.com profile, a goam.com profile, and a media.com profile? I'm really confused and any help would be much appreciated. Please feel free to pm me.

You only need one profile (SE website, per Scott's link - http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp...ps1_1&pid=10242 sets up with goam.com) for WAP setting.

If you want MMS set up, you'll need media.com set up in order to configure MMS settings. I'd recommend using the SE website as well.

Is the confirmation msg that is supposed to be sent to your phone take long, it's been roughly 5-7 minutes and I have not received anything.

When entering in my pphone number *canada* a "+1" is already entered, and then I added area code then number. I think that is the correct way?

Anyways, i am still waiting for this msg on my phone, so far nothing. I realize I could manually set it up, but I thought the SE site would be faster/easier/better?

Help?

I used the SE site for both settings update and it took under a minute to get the txt. +1 is correct to keep in the phone number.

Yeah, sadly, it did not end up working. I put all the setting in manually, the internet worked perfect. I have another thread now asking about picture msging, but...that's another thread.

Just enter the K800i settings and it should work on your phone.

You can do that without using the SonyEricsson site. The site complicates things.

Just go:

Setttings->Connectivity->InternetSettings->InternetProfiles->New Profile.

In New Profile:
Name->Rogers/Rog/whateverYouWant
and hit Select for Connect Using:

In Data Accounts:
New Account->PS Data->Rogers/Rog/whateverYouWant
APN: internet.com

and make sure you selected Rog.

It'll work like a charm.

I have an unlocked/unbranded W810i and im on rogers payasyougo. I had a v3 before and wap worked fine. I tried following the steps here and it didn't work, I tried going to the SE website but I never got the txt. Anyone know why its not working!??!

I have a w810, I tried both method, sent via SE website and manual input IP I still get the same Error eventhough my "Edge" icon is on.....i'm annoying can anyone help? what do I put in DNS?

If these settings dont work for your phone.. you're either putting them in wrong.. or there's something wrong with the phone..

Step by Step for WAP -

Just debranded my W810i following the instructions in this thread, had to do manual settings for WAP and MMS though, the SE tool on their site apparantly doesn't work with Canadian carriers. Outer's instructions were what was finally helped me get it straight though, I love how much nicer the phone works now

Hi, I've got a strange problem. I have a M608c. It has Opera 8.0. And I've gotten opera to work with two different internet settings. The thing is I prefer Opera Mini 4. But it won't work with any of the settings I've tried. So to sum it up - I have WAP working but opera mini 4 won't work. Why doesn't it work?

what should i put for the "Gateway"? Im setting up k750i and when switched from http Internet mode to wap it is asking to put in gateway, and i can't put in IP numbers, only letters like www... for example

im trying to set up wap for my tytn 2 and i set up the new account but i don't have the internet options where i can set up a new profile for the proxy server. not sure if its different for windows mobile 6. did anyone get this to work for an unlocked tytn 2?

i just purchased an unlock lg 9200, it is so frustrating because even though it is unlock the web browser is still locked, and i called rogers (my carrier) and they gave me some apn, ports and other kinds of settings to tell LG so they can help me put the settings on to my phone. But i called LG and they seem to be confused. and i know nothing about cellphones any somebody help me pls load the correct settings on to my phone..

I got the internet working fine (it goes to the Google website without problems) but when I try to go to the rogers website (http://mymobilehomepage.rogers.com) it gives me a "The Requested Page can not be displayed". Whats the deal? Anybody else got this?

I got thru the SE site settings sent to my phone, but could only get internet settings for the 810, which i figured was close enough to my (ex-Fido unlocked) W300i. Well, the IP addresses and ports for the two data accounts were off. So I fixed them with your data.

Only thing is that I'm guessing the icon right now that seems to be leftover from the Fido days of this phone and says "Surf, Download & Play" I can't get rid of or replace with the Rogers equivalent? It seems to be a shortcut to the Fido website. Can I get rid of that, or is that the stuff a provider burns into the RAM of a phone and is stuck there forever?

You can indeed get rid of that, I don't know if you can replace it with the Roger's equivilent, but you want to debrand the phone essentially, replacing the ROM on it with something non-Fido. I did the same to my Rogers based w810i, but I used a generic SE ROM for it, which got rid of the Rogers software, and also allows me to now use MP3 files as ringtones and a few other fun things (camera noise disappears in silent mode....hello silent snapshots

).

I paid for the new ROM/prog to flash mine, although there are plenty of places you can search through (including here at HoFo) with information on how to remove that carrier specific branding.

Hi, thanks for the info. So is this something that needs to be done in person or via a physical cable? When you say you paid for it... or can it be done via a code (like entering an unlock code once you're in the setup screen of the phone) and that's what you paid for? I need to search around a bit to learn more.

Do you know if downloading this from the SE site would unbrand it? I doubt it, but who knows. I'm guessing it's new firmware that it installs?

I'm on the $7 "unlimited" plan, which only covers WAP browsing, and not application network use. I'm not sure how they track this, but I guess it's through which data account you use (one for WAP, and another for Java?)

Anyways, right now under "Data Accounts", I have SEMC GPRS (which I guess is some sort of emergency SE network to allow you to download settings?), Roger Media (apn = media.com), "Go Rogers" (goam.com), and "Rogers Internet" (internet.com).

What is the difference between these three things, and which one should I use for WAP or Java, if I want my "unlimited WAP browsing" plan to cover my traffic? ie: If I use the wrong one, will I be charged th .05 / kb price?

i have a euro se phone and i spent the better half of the day figuring it out... this sticky helped me but i compared settings wiht my gfs new phone and there were a few differences and the internet is lightning fast on my gfs phone so i matched the settings to her phone and mines fast too.

here are the settings:

TYPE: PS Data
APN: internet.com
username: wapuser1
password: wap
login request: off
ip address: ...
dns address: ...
Authentication: PAP
Data Compression: Off
Header Compression: Off

This is where settings are way off:

Proxy:

Proxy: On
Same for all servers: Off
Proxy Servers: Multiple
HTTP
Username: wapuser1
password: wap
Proxy Address: 10.128.1.69
Port: 80

for media.com

the password username provided here works BUT the proxy server is the same as above.

My understanding is 10.x.x.x class c is private only. Is this the right setting it seems to work but its so much faster compared to the one listed here the 208.x.x.x

any input?

Does your GF have a Rogers branded phone?

she has a rogers phone (se 580).

be careful while using the 7/month plan on your iphone... check the ul thread on other people getting charged for data while using non rogers device.

I am having enormous trouble getting any WAP or IM working on my unlocked TyTn II. I've tried both internet.com and goam.com with wapuser1 and wap as my login. My phone seems to be able to connect, and I can download weather updates into my HTC home plugin, but I dont seem to be able to load any websites. I get a 'connection has been lost' message even though its still showing as being connected on the top menu. I also haven't been able to login in to windows live messenger. It just hangs for a long time then says 'communication error'

The settings I'm unsure about on my phone are the listed "Domain name*" which i left blank and then under advanced the 'use server assigned IP address' and 'user serer assigned' DNS

Having trouble here too on my w810i using oouter's settings. Just upgraded to the $15 communications value pack that adds unlimited WAP browsing. After all the settings added, I click on Menu->Internet (top left icon) and get the error message "Communication Failure. Try again or contact your operator for support." My phone is Rogers branded

I just debranded my w810i by flashing R4EK001 main and FS files using XS++ 3.1. These settings helped me set up WAP again, but I noticed that when I click on the Internet Services button in my main menu, it still brings me to the Sony Ericsson WAP homepage, despite the fact I've set it to the rogers address above. Any ideas?
