Getting Ringtone Cleaned Up for VX8000

I have a sound on email that is a .wav file that I would like to get to my phone for a ringtone. I've uploaded it to www.matrixm.com and sent it to my phone, but it's kind of garbled when it got to my phone.
Is there another way to send it or to the phone or clean it up?
