Palm TX Questions

I just purchased my very first PDA on Friday, the Palm TX. I've been reading that Verizon 710 users have had difficulty with holding a connection when trying to connect via BT to check email or surf the web. Has anyone here tried to do so with an Alltel V710?

Also, I've been trying to watch videos with my Palm and have had no luck. All the print on the website says you can watch videos...however when I put my mp4 videos on my card and attempt to view them, I see nothing. I've had some very nice people share with me software, that once downloaded and installed on my Palm, would allow me to watch videos..but I don't understand why my videos aren't playing intuitively, as the Palm is "supposed" to have a player.

Any insight would be very helpful...thank you in advance.

Until recently, you had to use software (Kinoma, TealMovie) to convert video files to formats that the Palm could use. Right now the most popular players play video media files in their native formats and only limit you to the size of your SD card. Check out http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about for the Core Palm Media Player (affectionately known to PDA geeks as tcpmp). Also here's a link to Mobile Tech Review's Palm video player comparison; http://www.mobiletechreview.com/sof...deo-players.htm , it doesn't include TCPMP. also always check and ask in Palminfocenter.com and Brighthand.com for tips, reviews and advice on your new device. I'll get mine after I decide what in-store warranty to get. Good luck!!

All you do is drag ANY video file to the add files applet and Palm Desktop converts them!

That's what I thought too....I've tried that and it won't work. Everything else does...pics and mp3s but not vids. Thanks for trying to help, I appreciate it.

I guess I'm going to have to give that "tcpmp" a try because my TX simply will not play any of my vids...the site says it supports mp4 and 3GP, both of which I've tried...with no sucess. They don't even show up as being on the card.

Is there a certain folder on the card that I should place videos in or does it matter?

It works for me...I dropped a bunch of Quicktime MOVs and DIVX AVIs and it converted all of them.

Have you tried them yet? What system are you using?
