Fixing the cut-off level for home/roam?

I'm not exactly sure what this is called, so I couldn't search for past posts. I have a 6015 CDMA phone that seems to hold the home carrier's signal even when the level is too low for good call quality. I was wondering if there is a way to correct/adjust the setting that makes the phone gives up on the home network and begins roaming?

Surely there is.

The most sure-fire way to do so would be to figure out the SID that you're want to be on and put it as prefered in a PRL, at the same time lowering your home SID's preference. Load the PRL into NAM 2, program it with the same info as you have in NAM 1, and just switch between the two NAMs when you need to be on that other network
