Wallpaper on LGVX8100

Ok so I have been using Bitpim to put ringtones on my phone for a couple of weeks, and now I am trying to do wallpapers. I was using Irfanview to resize them but then when I put them into bitpim it asks me to resize them again and always distorts them, am I doing something rong in Bitpim that it asks me to resize every time? Is there anyway to avoid this and put it straight on my phone?
