Any phone that can sync with Outlook?

I want a phone that I can sync with my Outlook. Not just the contacts, but also the calendar, the tasks and the notes.

My current phone (LG6000, Verizon) can use a piece of 3rd party software (Snapsync) to sync my contacts, but that's it. My phone has software built in for calendar, tasks and notes, but they're completely useless since I can't sync them!

I know smartphones can do this, but I don't need any of the functions of smartphones, and the huge bulk they always come with, since the only thing I actually want is syncing ability on basic productivity apps.

Is there anything that can do this? In countries where you buy your own phone (like all of Europe), do phones come with the ability to do this since they're not locked down as much?

I hate the fact that my phone is clearly capable of what it is I want, and it's simply poor software and the secretive nature of the phone industry that makes it so I can't do it.

Smartphones will certainly sync with Outlook. If you have a reasonably large number of contacts in Outlook (I have nearly 3,000), then the sync will take some amount of memory on your handset. You also need an OS that was designed to sync with your PIM (Outlook for example). Most phone OS's were designed for phone functions, one of which is a simplified address book. The "database" that handles the address book functions in most handsets is really simple. Outlook has a large number of fields in its various records. This means that syncing outlook (contacts, calendar, tasks and notes requires a much more powerful database than you will find in most non-smartphones.

i'll only buy phones that sync w/ outlook... try sony ericsson or sharp phones; they'll sync w/ outlook (contacts, tasks, calender, etc), but if you're a heavy outlook user, just get a ppc

Try the Motorola MPX220. Its a small formfactor like a normal cell, but a full on Windows Mobile device capable of doing everything you want (even wirelesly).

Wow that Motorola MPX220 seems like exactly what I want! Are there any other comparable phones that are recommended or is that pretty much the one?
