How to enable Video Record on V3 RAZR

Taken from the tutorial I created for Mobiledia Forums

Keep in mind editing/modifying your phone in anyway is your choice and I will not be held responsible for any damage YOU do to YOUR phone.

THE NEWB GUIDE

Part 1 (What you Need to get)
-For people that want to try it with your own seems then you need to know how to SEEM EDIT
-buy data cable (This is the same cable that many digital cameras and other devices use.)
-(-Download WINRar (search Google) so you can unpack P2KMan and V3 Video.rar)
-download p2kman (you will also need either MPT or PST drivers for p2kman to recognize your phone, no posts about why p2kman wont recongize your phone in this thread, rather you should start a new thread).
-download V3 Video.rar I put together
-Check Firmware on your phone and make sure it is 90R or newer and has boot loader 8.23 or newer. I recommend R374_G_0E.42.09R which has the 8.26 boot loader. To check firmware press *#9999# or menu>settings>phone status>other information>S/W Version.

**Note** If you dont have a current enough flash on the phone (min 8.23 bootloader) then you will need to do firmware update

Part 2 (Making Backups)
-Open p2kman
-Above the Download seems button in the FROM box type 0032 & in the TO box also type 0032.
-Click download and save the file to a location but do NOT rename it, just leave as xxxx_yyyy
-Above the Download seems button in the FROM box type 004a & in the TO box also type 004a.
-Click download and save the file to a location but do NOT rename it, just leave as xxxx_yyyy
-Click on update list button
-find directory /a/mobile/system
-highlight file mma_ucp and press phone to pc button, save the file in the same location as you two backup seems
-highlight file mma_dcp and press phone to pc button, save the file in the same location as you two backup seems

Part 3 (Uploading New Seems)
-Extract V3 Video.rar
-Open P2kman
-Have phone on, sim in and connect to computer with cable
-Above the upload seems button, in the box labelled SEEM type 0032. In the box labelled REC type 0001.
-Click on the upload seem button and locate seem 0032_0001 in the V3 Video file.
-Wait till p2kman says ok
-Above the upload seems button, in the box labelled SEEM type 004a. In the box labelled REC type 0001.
-Click on the upload seem button and locate seem 004a_0001 in the V3 Video file.
-Wait till p2kman says ok

Part 4 (Uploading New Menu Files)
-Click on update list button
-Open directory /a/mobile/system
-Locate mma_ucp, hightlight by single clicking on the file and then click on pc to phone
-Locate mma_ucp in the V3 Video folder and click open.
-Click on the update list (this step is prob not necessary but doesnt harm anything)
-Again go back to directory /a/mobile/system
-Locate mma_dcp, hightlight by single clicking on the file and then click on pc to phone
-Locate mma_dcp in the V3 Video folder and click open.
-Click on the update list (this step is prob not necessary but doesnt harm anything)
-When list is done updating click on the restart phone button, when p2kman says phone is disconnected remove data cable.
-When phone powers up again Video should be enabled.

FOR THE ADVANCED USERS

What you need
-Data Cable
-p2kman(you will also need either MPT or PST drivers for p2kman to recognize your phone, no posts about why p2kman wont recongize your phone in this thread, rather you should start a new thread).

Enable Video:
1. SEEM 0032_0001 offset 70 bit 6 (1 on, 0 off)

2. SEEM 004a_0001 offset 1D3 (01) - no bit manipulation with this SEEM. Just change the offset value to 01.

3. You have to edit mma menu file. You can use program like P2KMenuEditor to activate Video Camera menu under Multimedia.

Other Seem Edits
1. Video length: Maximum/MMS

SEEM 0032_0001 offset 6E bit 3 (1 on, 0 off)

2. Resolution: High (176 x 144)/Low (128 x 96)
SEEM 0032_0001 offset 7D > bit 7 (1 on , 0 off)

3.Recording sound: On/Off
SEEM 0032_0001 offset 6E bit 2 (1 on, 0 off)

To get Vids over a minute long:
1.Message Center Menu > Inbox Setup > MMS Message Setup > Size Limit: None
2.Menu>multimedia>video>menu>video setup>video length>MMS

**Update Sep 23, 2005 **

If you find that you are unable to talk on speaker phone when the flip is closed try this:

seem 0032_0001 offset 8A bit 2: Speaker Call to End on Flip Close (1 on, 0 off)

**Update Oct 1, 2005**
Seem "0032_0001" changes:

Offset 6F bit 7 (video quality menu selection)
Offset 70 bit 0 and bit 6 (video lighting condition on dial).
Offset 7D bit 7
Offset 7E bit 0 and bit 1 (video zoom on dial)
Offset 7F bit 0
Offset 82 bit 0and bit 1 (video brightness on dial)

Seem 004a_0001:

Offset 1D0 no bit manipulation, just change offset value to "01" (high resolution video default).

Offset 1D1 to record in 3gp video format check bit "1", to record in mp4 video format check bit "0". Offset 1D3 enter "01" into the two-digit box.

Enable Video Styles (black & white, antique, blueish... etc)
Seem 0032_0001
offset 53 bit 7
offset 54 bit 0
offset 72 bit 6
offset 81 bit 2,3,4,5,6,7
offset 82 bit 0
offset 84 bit 3
procedure:

1-menu/multimedia/videos/new video/select/menu/video setup/select/styles/change
2-select the style
3-back

I got a new razor recently from tmobile. it has s/w R374_G_OE.42.09R
I tried to enable/set video recording limit unlimited.

I went to
1. Message Center Menu > Inbox Setup > MMS Message Setup >
here I can see >>Hide fileds, auto signature, download, Filter, Expire After , Reply type, Server Info.

I do not see any options like Size Limit

2.
I went to
Menu>multimedia>video>menu>video setup>

I do not see any options like Video Length


can some body help me.

Or you can just flash the phone with one of the monsterpacks here: www.MotoX.us and forget the seem edits all together.

True but if you just do the seem editing (quicker then flashing/backing everything up) you dont have to backup all your contacts, ringtones, wallpapers, games, pictures and if you have done a ton of seem editing to your phone already then you dont have to redo it.

I have installed p2ktools and it is connecting fine with my v3.

With P2ktools software can we make seeming/flashing.

And with p2k tools with the help of DJ tutorial I uploaded few games to my v3.
But when i start these games I am getting "Application Error".
what could be the reason? how to fix this.
My phone is locked with tmobile network.
I have s/w R374_G_0E.42.09R

Can some body help me. And also I pm'ed to DJ to send couple of games to my email address.
Please check it.

You cannot do any flashing with P2kTools but you can modify seems. An application error usually means the game is not compatible with your phone. Games are a lot of trial and error on your phone you just have to find ones that work.
I think we should all PM DJ to get games...

you guys are great.
I have almost uploaded 6 to 7 games , i got same error for all the games.
If you have any games with compatible to v3 van you please send to me.
I guess I have the latest software on my v3 so I dont have to worry about flashing right now. But I will try with seeming to enable unlimited video recording.

I just recently purchased a black v3 razr from rogers and did a firmware upgrade to R374_G_0E.42.09R and upgraded to bootloader 8.26. I haven't flexed the phone yet, because i am worried about losing GPRS settings. However I did try using the v3 video.rar that you suggested with the T-Mobile and did get the Video Cam to work. However rogers uses AIM on the main screen, and i didn't want to use the 'IM' feature. So I reverted back to the stock seems that i saved via your directions. I can get video cam to appear on the menu, but not work after doing the seem edits you suggested? I am not sure if the seem edits are coming out of the flex, but.. i haven't lost any settings yet, and like the stock rogers set up. Basically I only want the video cam to work.

Any help, or suggestions from anyone on rogers would be suggested, or let me know if flexing might be my solution.

i have a v360. it has video capture but I'd like to record above a minute.

unfortunately my phone does not have the 'size limit' option in my MMS Message Setup. what's missing? is there a thread for this?

Samsung....question, the s/w version on my phone is r374_g_0e_40.79r.....do I need to change to R374_G_0E.42.09R before enabling video recording....how do I tell whether the version on my phone is the latest version or not...is it by the .42.09r?

The version s/w version you have on your phone is too old to enable the video camera. Update to either 42.0DR or 42.0ER both available at www.motox.us I have also created a much more thorough guide to enabling the video camera on MotoX Forums.
