i just got a smt 5600 and would like to know how to find out the ESN since its not on the sticker on the back. Is there a way to get BitPim to detect it and which version should I use?

why would you use bitpim, (unless you are using a non windows pc) you can do everything threw windows active sync or memory card

i tried using activesync but i couldn't seem to locate the esn...

what do you need the esn for do you mean the imei number its on the back of the phone

Posted by: syellowbud

i need the esn to activate the phone with my service provider they said they couldn't activate it without it.

Not sure, but isn't the ESN number the S/N: number under the battery? I see no ESN number on my phone, just P/N: IMEI: & S/N:

So Sprint has GSM coverage now? I thought it was all CDMA or WCDMA.

Phone can't be activated on Sprint. The Audiovox SMT 5600 is a GSM-only phone.

i think what he meant was the imei..... i dont remember the code for the imei.. its like *060*# or something like that... anyways your service provider should be able to tell you.... if it is cingular you can make an imei anyways.... you cant really add insurance to the phone.

u can find out you IMEI (serial number for GSM phones) by pressing *#06#

note: ESN (electronic serial number) is for cdma & tdma phones (non-gsm)
