How do I get new icons on my V3??

The last time I tried it I managed to erase EVERYTHING on my phone (it was only a day old). I eventually managed to get it up and running again after much blood sweat and beers... 
I have a DRM file that I want to add, and I know I need to use MFF to do it, but I am not sure about what boxes I need to leave ticked/unticked when flashing them.. I think last time I left 3 ticked and thats what caused the problem.
If anyone could point me in the right direction.....
