Yes I had in my hands the 850 9300i the case is slightly different it's an magnesium alloy type case and it's much faster only played with it for a few minutes but the BB Connect software was on it and the wifi worked rather well it's a prototype so it's being sent back for a firmware upgrade maybe more pictures tomorrow...

hey,
So far I love it. I actually got it from a seller out of Wa, not the guy in Jersey. I loaded up the BB software, which didn't come with the phone, but I found the link for it on Hofo. I'm just waiting for my company to get it together and add the package to my plan. so far no issues. I froze it once, but it was my own stupidity. I've loaded up Agile Messenger and SmartMovie so far, and both work well. FW is 4.53, so it does seem to be an older ver. The only thing that gives me pause is that under the battery it says "Property of Nokia, Not for sale" so I hope it's not going to crash on me out of nowhere. if it does, I hope Cingular is carrying it so I can Warranty it through my company. Let me know if anyone else's has this same sticker. thanks

Posted by: bigjigga

4.53 firmware?? are you sure the BB connect will work because that is the same FW the my 9300i had on it and thats why I sent it back for a firmware update.. Even though your able to see your PIN number in the BlackBerry Control pannel it still might register on the network properly. Because all the 5.22 preloaded devices I've seen have BB Connect already installed on the unit so please let us know what happens with that....

Posted by: big-poppa3

hmmm... I actually can't see the PIN. that was going to be my next post. who's doing the firmware flash for you, and how much does it cost? I noticed a few programs in the manual that aren't loaded on the phone (no IM, no antivirus, ect), so I was thinking about doing that anyway.

The pin number should be under control panel>messaging>blackberry and its on the third tab i forget what its called it'll give you the pin and IMEI also you should go into the internet setup and make the blackberry gprs entry to the top also make sure you enable it in the first tab of the blackberry control panel

It's really hard getting a firmware update in the us to answer the other question I've called almost every service center in so cal down to san diego and no one has the firmware so I've been calling Nokia trying to get support and everyone I've talked to their says it's best for me to call Nokia in the UK gerr... anyway when I figure it out I'll let you know because i have a 9500 and a 9300 but i really want Blackberry connect because I'm sick of mailx.. (MailX is a program from bitween.com crappy support but works really well for non blackberry connect commi's best alternative to blackberry connect for push e-mail on the communicator)

Hey, I contacted iunlock last night about updating the firmware on my US 9300, along with a few other questions I had. their reply was that until the phone is actually released they will not be able to re-flash it, as the firmware is not available from Nokia. does anyone have any other suggestions about updating the phone, or do I just have to wait it out? I was really looking forward to the BB service

So weekend is over. Where is the news?

Smartroaming.

9300i will ship with bundled support for mobile IP. Giving users the option of the phone improved network-access automation abilities. Check it out:

http://www.smartroaming.com

Would be cool to see how it works. (9300i is the first mobile IP compliant supported device from nokia afaik)

in practice it gives always-on abilities to the phone.

Still doesn't have the 9300i back yet should be meeting with him later today I'm gonna get some pics of some other new toys..

Posted by: mch

So I had a 900/1800/1900 9300, and was unimpressed by the lackluster GSM 1900 reception compared to the 9500 and pretty much every other Nokia that I've used (with the possible exception of the Nokia 6100)

I'm wondering if the 9300i is any better. How does it compare to most other Nokia phones?

Can you at least confirm that it was GSM 850 9300i???

Posted by: Implicit

I think there is a lot of confusion in this thread. The 9300i isn't even released yet and will only be 900MHz from what I understand. I think most in this thread are talking about the 9300 and not the 9300i.

As for those of you who are buying 9300's from that bm-custom guy on eBay. Can you please post the FCC ID of the phone you received. It should start with "PYA" followed by a 3-4 character alphanumeric code
