"Losing a phone"

I'm based in Japan and recently got myself a 903sh through vodafone. I'm thinking of 'losing'it so that I can get a replacement and give that to my brother as a Xmas present. My question is would a phone still work even after reporting it lost or would the handset be inoperable?

That is fraud. That is why phones are so damn expensive now. And no, it probably won't work. They will blacklist it.

I agree. If you plan to commit a crime, please don't come her looking for coconspirators.

Yep. If you do, you are committing a felony - fraud. And most likely, they will ask for a police report. If you defraud that, you could be in some serious trouble!
