Confirmation of e815 seem edit

Hello all,

Just got my USB cable/phone tools and couldn't resist trying to seem edit my e815. After downloading all the required software and triple checking the instructions I'm happy to say I no longer have to listen to those loud sounds when snapping photos. The "none" option is now available to me under shutter sounds.

I also enabled the option to allow using a different picture hosting service and a couple other things.

Any chance of you telling us how you got rid of that noise? rather here it from somebody who had done it first hand then reading off a website. Thanks.

well...technically you would still be reading it off of a website...

GP-SE: I purchased the offical Motorola USB data cable and Mobile Phone Tools 3.0 kit from the Telus store of all places (I just went in and asked for the cable for their Motorola v710). I believe it was $79.99. My local Bell World couldn't get the kit according to the salesperson I dealt with. I had also bought a cheap-o cable off the net for $12US. The Motorola cable is thicker and longer than the generic cable and the Motorola cable also has a passthrough connection for charging your phone with the regular home charger.

As for editing the seem, I just followed the instructions that other's hard work created. All the information on doing the seem edit is available on these boards, the guide I used is located here. I also researched and read more about it on this page.

I didn't really post to say anything other than I can confirm that the instructions for the Verizon version of the e815 work for us on Bell as well.

About halfway down this page there's a list of popular seem edits. Most (if not all) of the ones listed for the v710 will also work on the e815.

i also have the "none" option for the camera sounds!!!
I paid $15 for the usb cable at pacific mall.

Is that $79.99 just for the cable or cable and the software? Is this Mobile Phone Tools the only software I'd need to do this "seem edit" stuff? Or is there something else I'd need to download? Also, was the TELUS store a corporate store or a dealer store?

You don't need Mobile Phone Tools to make a seem edit, you need Motorola PST and p2kman.. If you check the yellowpages for 'E Wireless' in Mississauga or Brampton, they will sell you a OEM Motorola data cable for $35 bucks.

That was $79.99 for the cable and the software. I do realize that I most likely overpaid, however I wanted to have a legitimate copy of Motorola Phone Tools that could use the LiveUpdate feature and here on Vancouver Island there's not much choice for cell phone accessories - especially for new phones like the e815.

I don't know if the Telus store was corporate or not, it was located at Woodgrove Mall in Nanaimo, B.C. Very nice and helpful sales people there, I almost felt guilty bringing in my Bell phone, until I saw the prices on some of their phones.

OPPressed is correct though, you don't need the MPT to do the seem edit - I like MPT though for transfering mp3's and syncing my phonebook/contacts.

What's Live Update and other than transferring MP3s and syncing, does MPT do anything else nifty?

Posted by: Mark I

Live update is just the automatic upgrade feature of the Motorola Phone Tools software. I've heard that with certain versions of MPT floating around on the net that you can't use the LiveUpdate feature, so if they make any improvements to the software you'd have to wait for another version to make the rounds. With LiveUpdate you can get the newest version updates when they're released.

I haven't used MPT for much besides transfering MP3s, images and videos but it includes editors for all of the above. It can also sync your phonebook and calendar, send/receive email through the phone, and enable you to set up an Internet Connection.
