8200 problems, need help

My 8200 periodically says I need to call a Sprint 800 number for service (and I can't dial out with it or get to any other screen. I called once, and they couldn't help. Told me I had to take an it to the Sprint store. They messed with it oin the back and said here, it should be fine now, but I don't know what they did.
Lately it has been happening more frequently (once every few days or so).
If I pull the battery and restart it, it seems to come back around. Just now it took doing t hat several times before finally starting up normally.
What cuases this? Any ideas?
Is it dying?
