Hi, i was told by numerous sources that I could program my nokia inpulse phone into my existing verizon wireless 2yr plan. i went to the verizon website as directed, logged in, went to activate phone, typed in the new ESN number and it said it was successful. i waited about an hour and then tried to activate it by pressing *228. then it did its thing for about 15 seconds and then said it couldnt do it at this time. could it be as simple as trying to do this late at night (12am) or will it not work?
p.s. its a nokia 2182i i believer or some other combination of the numbers

Its a Nokia 2128i.
I would try it again, not waiting as long. There have been other reports of the website saying to go ahead and do *228 then that not working. You might need to call and get a CS rep to do it. They will try to charge you $20, but some people have reported that if you tell them you tried to do it free on the website but it didnt work, they might waive the fee. Finally, make sure that the "Reson" form on the website is "Phone being repaired" or "Phone was Stolen" the other choices seem not to work -- I think Verizon is doing it to avoid this sort of thing.

if you got it from an indirect (best buy/target etc) they are locked to prepay for 6 months (the phone in a box thing). if you got it from verizon direct then it will go right through. I do those activations once in a while and havent had an issue yet if they got it from a direct store as inpulse.
