how do i set up Versa Mail for my netscape email

Under Account Setup in VersaMail you need to use the POP protocal, your e-mail address, and the settings below. A simple Google search will give you POP3 settings for most ISPs.

Quote:
Netscape Internet Service Mail Settings
The Netscape e-mail system is web-based, which means you can access their e-mail from any Internet connection. Netscape Internet Service also supports AOL® Communicator, Microsoft® Outlook, Microsoft® Outlook Express, and other POP3 e-mail software. The outgoing mail server needs SSL support, so make sure your email client software supports SSL connections over the SMTP protocol.

Netscape Internet Service Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.3.isp.netscape.com (port 110)

Netscape Internet Service Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.isp.netscape.com (port 25, using a secure SSL connection)

I tried doing this for my timewarnercable road runner account...

i am able to receive messages but gives me an error whenever i try to send them...
its set up as "pop.nycap.rr.com" 110 and "smtp.nycap.rr.com" 25
i tried using SSL but it gave me a different error

WITHOUT SSL it says "500 5.5.1 command unrecognized "startTLS"

WITH SSL it says "550 5.7.1 <address>...Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed [IP#]"

anyone offer any suggestions please?

You might want to try changing your SMTP address to your cell phone provider's SMTP server. For instance, for Cingular, I use "cwmx.com" as my SMTP server.

thanks for the help....didnt work though - any other ideas?

For your RoadRunner POP try pop-server.nycap.rr.com. Then use Cingular's SMTP, cwmx.com. I have RoadRunner set up on my Treo and I use that POP, but for SC. It works great.

I can't get my settings for yahoo right. Do you know the incoming and outgoing address for yahoo? (for the record, I'm using a treo 650 under cingular)

Posted by: jyoung1685

incoming is pop.mail.yahoo.com, outgoing is smtp.mail.yahoo.com , unless you have premium services I dont believe this will work.

el bucko - i've tried that but i still get an error message for versamail - did you say you are using versamail iwth the cwmx.com??

will there be any problem with using medianets unlim instead of data connecT>

Yes I used cwmx.com. Did you set up a extra account on your Treo 650 for RoadRunner or just changed the setting in the Versamail? When I set mine up, new account, it automaticly put the cwmx.com in the SMTP. I have five accounts setup this way. I have the Old Media Unlimited.

man this is so frusturating...i can get messages fine with -pop.nycap.rr.com- and i have finally set my outgoing to -cwmx.com- but it just will not let me send my messages....any idea? i put up the error message that i have been getting up there a few posts up

I have the same issue on verizon......they had me switch the outgoing to a verizon mail.com and it still wont work.

i ended up just going with snapper mail - didnt want to pay for anything but seems to be no choice as versamail is pretty poor for me - cant delete it either which is a bummer

Does anyone know the SMTP/POP3 address for BoostMobile?
I want to check my email messages that are coming to my phone from my Outlook Expresss.
I'm getting spammed on my phone and want to delete the messages that are spam.

Also, can you get a virus on your phone from this junk?

thanks.
