Nokia 6682 and 32K sim or not!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

after reading the threads and seeing the the 32k sim card would get rid of call logs and copying problems, I purchased a 32k sim card from ebay. however, should I change my sim card or stay with the 64k sim card? i heard something about the 3g sim card happening sometime in mid November.

My main concern; what is the diff between the 32k and 64k sim cards? it's not very clear because i read conflicting info's. also the customer service rep told me that once i activate the 32k sim card, the old 64k will no longer be able to be activated again, ever....

thanks in advance for your inputs.

With a 32k sim all of the problems with the 6682 should go away. I am using a 32k sim, the same one that I started with cingular back 4 years ago and I have the nokia 6682. I have yet to have any problems. reguarding the current sim that you have, who cares if it does not work. You could always but another for about $20. Depending on the generation of the 32k sim, you may be able to have manual network selection. That is one reason why I will not give up my cingular sim.

I've a 32k sim, no contacts problem but I do have switching off/reseting problems and no handsfree for bluetooth headsets. I think nokia and h8xx moto headsets seem to be okay though, maybe others too but I haven't been counting.
Also, faultless unbranded phones and faulty branded (cingular) are the rule so it pays to know who is telling you what.

I originally had a 32k sim with my 6682. worked fine. switched to a 64k sim. had problems. switched back to a 32k sim. Problems gone. end of story. Until the N80 arrives. then a new story will begin.

hey.....jsmcguir

the cingular rep told me that once they change the info from one sim card to the other...the previous card is no longer valid and is technically destroyed.

how are you switching back and forth?

i've never really had problems with my phone switching off...except so far just once.

it's not really big deal with my 64k sim. just the copy sim and losing the call log. just wanted some feedback regarding the 32k sim car. like i said, i do have one 32k sim card that i had baught, just need to activate. but if it doesn't really help, then i need to buy another 64k sim.

64k sim seems to be the cause of the 6230 issues as well, as my unlocked 6230 running blue is flawless but my ornage one (same softare) has major issues

...ok, I had (well, still have it in my draw) a 64k. A friend of mine that works at Cingular set me up with the 32k card.

No more problems, contacts and last dialed calls etc, all work like it's supposed too...

If one needs to revert to the 64k sim, or any other sim for that matter, all you do is give Cingular the number on the sim card. They make a few changes on the system and then ask you to turn the mobile on, and that's it...

the 32k sim prefers (formerly) orange towers, while the blue goes straight for formerly aws towers

Does anyone know why cingular pulled the 6682 from there line up.
I have a 6682 and for some reason, when i power it off and turn it back on when i goto contacts it always asks me to copy contacts to sim, and then my call log is empty any ideas? While I am here the nokia site said something about the 6682 is PTT ready just needs an update is this true?

...please do a search on the Nokia s60 forum and all your questions will be answered over, and over again...
