tried to download and install the "google local" midlet at http://google.com/glm/ . it downloads and installs, but when i select it to run, i get the error that it "failed to run the midlet". tried redownloading it a few times to no avail. any advice on getting it java app to run? thanks!!

it worked fine on my cingular 5600, the carrier may be the issue.

Just use the pass through connection in ActiveSync, if phone internet access is a problem.

ya you need a data plan.

i have a data plan. it's not an internet problem for me afaik. any other suggestions why my midlet 'fails' immediately when i select it to run?

Some 5600 users have had success by just rebooting. Don't know if you tried that yet...

Also, some 5600 users who have had their phone unlocked have reported problems. May I suggest checkng out the discussion group on Google - I learned a lot there. Google > Groups > Google Local Mobile.
