Dead Screen on 2035a, questions

Hi, I have an old Kyocera/Qualcomm QCP 2035a phone. The screen on it is currently dead, though recently it's been showing one or occasionally two vertical lines about 2/3 of the way across the screen.
I would really like to get the phone numbers off of it and/or fix it.
1. I can borrow a USB datacable, but have no software for it, is there something I can download from somewhere to access the phone from my computer?
2. If I take it in to somewhere like Radio Shack (there is no Verizon store around here) can they get the phone numbers off of it when they sell me a new phone? I don't need them transferred, just a hardcopy will do, but transferred would be easiest for me.
3. Is it possible to buy another old 2035a (say from ebay) and replace the screen on this one? I've done a tad of soldering before, but am not all that great at it.
I'll take any other suggestions as well.
Thanks,
Liz
