Making up my own handfree?! K750i

I want to make my own hand free up! I had one of them jack small ones of eback that had a jack strait from the connector. This has broke so i have a spare jack and the connection that goes in to the fone. I also have an old d500 handfree that i dont use. Could i put the k750 connecter on the end instead of the d500 and then put the jack on the other end and be able to use the mic? or would the mic not work? Thats the main reason i want to do it to use the mic. So i can have it plugged in to my car stereo but use the mic so i have a hands free kit.
all i bit complicated but i hope you understand what I meen!
