i have the s710a and i dropped it awhile ago and it stopped working so i take it to the cingular store and the lady takes it to the back brings it out says it look like u have water damage but it just needs to be charged, i look at it and its on, i put my sim card back in try to turn it back on and it comes on fine, then it dies so im taking it home, plug it in my charger, now it wont turn back on again... and its been charging awhile, what the hell is going on??

you may just have a faulty battery, turn your phone off and charge overnight, if it doesn't work most times you can talk cingular into just giving you a new battery. make sure that your charger is specifically for your phone (from sony or cingular), otherwise it may work but can cause some problems. your phone could be somewhat fried if your using a bad charger. as for the water damage, the majority of those cingular people don't know what they're talking about. unless you dropped it in water it doesn't have water damage. there is a sensor thing on the inside of the phone that is supposed to tell if there is water damage. the problem is, is that humidity often causes it to say that there is water damage when there has never been.

Pull the battery out of the phone and have a look to the right of the bottom barcode.
there should be a small square there
if it is a checker pattern red/white you prolly dont have water damage
if it is a solid pink or red square then you dunked it in a puddle at some point in time
