Ok, I just got a refurb Treo 650 in today from Cingular. The thing looks brand new, but.....the user guide tells you to insert the battery and then follow the on screen guide to set your time zone and time up. The screen came up with that info, I tried to tap on the screen and nothing happens when I use the stylus. I should be able to tap on the screen right out of the box and it should respond when I tap on things, shouldn't it?? Do I have a doa??

Do a hard rest and realign the stylus when the Welcome screen comes on.

Should I really have to be doing a hard reset with something right out of the box? I know it's a refurb, but that gives me a bad feeling.

Try the hard reset and see what happens.

A Hard Reset brings you back to factory setting. Since you have a refurbished one, who knows what is in it. If you get a new one, it would be in the same state as your refurbihsed one if you do a hard reset.

That could be true but a hard reset would force to realign the stylus (Calibrate the screen). There could be other things that might be wrong. A hard reset is the easiest way to fix his problem.
