Noise cancelling headphones, which ones?

I'm going to ask my lovely wife for a pair of noise cancelling headpones for Christmas. I know nothing about them.

Is there anything I should consider besides the Bose Quiet Comfort 2?

Shure? Which model?

Nooo man. If you're going to spend $300 on a pair of headphones go for either Sennheiser HD595 for about $240 or if she's willing, the HD600 for $350.

The Audio-Technica ATH-AD10 is an awesome pair of headphones too, but they come straight from Japan so it takes a few days longer to get them. Sound incredible though.

I was going to get a pair of E2C's, but ended up getting one of these instead:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Koss-The-Plug-Et...1QQcmdZViewItem

They're a pair of Koss' "the plug" headphones modified with Etymotic ER4 tips. The person had a lot of feedback selling these headphones and with the money I'm saving I can get something else for myself as well. The reviews for the original Koss ear buds are pretty good for the price so hopefully these will be a lot better. Also they're pretty good for sound isolation.

Can't tell you how they sound yet as they're still in the mail.

I bought the Sony MDR-NC6. I don't recommend that one. It is comfortable and pretty detailed, but it's noise cancellation properties is suspect and turning it one just sorta makes it go louder with more distortion.

It blocks out certain frequencies, but not the real bothersome ones (under 500 Hz).

Wirelessly posted (nokia 6630 + Dell Axim X50V: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows XP; PPC; 640x480))

I have Sony NC11
kinda clumsy, but noise blocking/cancelling and sound are good
