argh sony 910i s.... big time!

spent the whole weekend. Finally able to receive emails with content. Now I cannot send e-mail out. it gives me a “unknown error” when I try to send out e-mails (on both yahoo and outlook). And for the yahoo mail, it keeps telling me that the user name and password is not right when I know it is correct. My s60 Nokia 6682 took me less than 1 hour to set up all me emails. With 910, i have 1 email in outlook and 1 in yahoo.

Please help!

Hmmm I was able to set up my factory unlocked 910a in about 10 mins.... email, MMS, WAP, and html Internet..... everything works perfectly.

Is your 910i direct factory unlocked / unbranded or is it a branded one? If its from a carrier, then it might have some settings already in there that are messing with your email accounts.

ALso, make sure that you have it set to use the internet account and not the WAP account or email will not work properly, if at all. I believe there is a setting asking which internet account to use. If you only have WAP access and not full internet, I dont know if email will work or not.

You usually also need to use the operator's smtp server, not the yahoos or other in sending mail.

Have you tried getting the settings from SonyEricsson's web site? Usually those work quite perfectly. I wouldn't say some other phone is far more superior if most of the people manage to use the Pxxx email without problems. Unless you are here just to promote the other phone.

let me see - the "other" phone took me 30 min in setting 5 email accounts and has been working well. Sony, despite technical support from forums and Sony, 9 days later, at least 3 hours/day devoted to support, still cannot get the thing to work. Can't help to compare, right? Will give Sony Tech until Wednesday before posting on GG.

Any help in getting this phone to work is greatly appreciated!

have you asked your mobile phone company for their outgoing smtp server?

Who is your provider and what country do you live in?

My assumption is that this is your first P-series phone. Don't get frustrated, there's a slight learning curve. Once you get over the hump you'll sing the praises of this device.

Yes. I have the correct outgoing smtp server. My Nokia and Sony have the same plan with the same carrier - T-mobile in Houston, TX. Sony tech support is prompt but no help. I have the p910i.

Again, any further help is appreciated.
