2-in-1 sync/charger cable will charge but not sync...please HELP!

Hello friends,

I just got this so-called 2-in-1 cable that's supposed to charge my Treo 650 and also sync it. I am amazed at how quickly it charges it. Basically as fast as my wall charger. Is that normal and is it advisable to do that on a regular basis or might it hurt it somehow?

But to get to my main issue. It does NOT have that button that the ones that come with the full kit have. I think I used to press that button which automatically hotsynced my Treo to my laptop. I've only ever done it once but it worked just fine! I am still somewhat new to the whole Treo thing but I am loving it more and more.

So how do I get this 2-in-1 cable to sync??? Any help would be appreciated!

Open your treo, find a program called "hotsync", click on it. Make sure you select "cable/cradle" (It's the default setting), click on the big button

Awesome! Thank you very much. It worked flawlessly. So the button on some of the sync cables is just a convenience issue I suppose. When I synced the Treo to my laptop, it removed all of my call log, recently dialed numbers, as well as all SMS/MMS's. Arghh...There's probably a way to get them back on the phone?

Other than that, it's great!

The other question was, is it really a good idea to charge my Treo using the 2-in-1 cable through the USB port on my laptop instead of the wall charger? I am talking about doing that all the time, not just every now and then. It would be great that when I'm on a call and the battery goes low, I wouldn't have to get up and go to the wall charger.

Not sure why your call log and other were lost. Never happened to me. Can you check the setting in PocketMirror? Not likely to me.

As of charing through USB, I have used for about a year and my battery is still functioning as new. I use wall charger at home and USB at work. it's more important to top your battery all the time, if possible, as mentioned in the manual.
