It slides off toward the bottom of the phone. I just turn it face down and apply pressure to both sides using my thumbs, pushing down while sliding it off. I know....it seems as though it's going to break, but it does work.

I wish I could do a search of this thread

isn't there a link to the rebate form? I didn't seem to get one with my phone, but they did tell me I was eligible

Uninstall some programs on your phone, empty your IE temp files, reboot, then try MMS. I had the same issues until I moved any programs over 200KB to my storage card.

With 4MB storage free on my phone, I had MMS issues. Now with 8MB free, I have no issues.

I think there's a really stupid bug in the phone where it leaves an MMS turd in \My Documents\UAContents for each MMS message you send. After a while enough of them collect to cause the device to stop sending MMS. If you use the file browser to delete those files MMS should start working again.

It's always something. The Treo 700 has fatal flaws, the 2125 has a few bugs and a really UGLY hump. Why can't someone make a decent phone?

I have been waiting for my new 2125 for 4 weeks after ordering with our B2B rep. After finally convincing the rep that the phone was available, the rep came back to me today with this explanation for the delay:
" I resubmitted your order. An issue was identified and resolved by the manufacturer with user availability memory. We ceased deployment of the devices starting 12/22. Inventory has been replaced and we have been allowed to place new orders."
I do not pretend to be an expert, but this might explain some of the delays others have experienced. Does this also mean that some of you that got the device right after it was released have defective devices?

Huh. I suspected as much. I hope it's a SW fix. And, if so, why isn't there a download for it on the htc-america.net site, I wonder?

If you recently bought the phone you can get the rebate form here otherwise you may have to call Cingular and get them to send you an older version.

I have a copy of an older version if you bought your phone in December if you want to swing by my office and pick it up.

Got my two phones from the local (non-corporate) Cingular store. They had ordered them way back shortly after the release date. Came in on Jan 6th. The reps at the store said they were "all glad your phones came in". $299 ea. minus two 100 rebates. Had to go through the store because I was discontiuing my one PC card data plan $89.24 per month in favor of two $19.99 unlimited plans. They allowed it because I only had the data card with cingular. I added two voice lines with a 2 year and two 19.99 data plans. They basically deleted my contract on the data card at no cost. The phones are great. My significant other requested that I "make her ringer louder". That simple request took three hours of searching, but I finally found the answer here. It seems that the phone will do a lot but some of the simple things are really hard to do. (smart phone newby here). Any other phone you would push the volume button and the ringer would get louder (like it says to do in the user manual!!!!!) but that doesn't work. I have a question - did anyone get a memory card with their phone? I was under the impression that one (small) memory card came with the phone, but both of mine only have the "base" memory. I would have liked to see more options for changing the layout/icons/menus to something that is more intuitive or easier to use without hacking into it (and having to learn how to hack a phone at the same time). Is there anywhere that has a list of "verified" procedures to use to do things? I don't want to experiment, I just want instructions and verfied results. I need to learn how to transfer files, run programs, move files, modify files, etc. I am a computer geek since the days of DOS but have ditched PDAs (and similar gadgets) after having to learn graffiti and replacing AA batteries on a daily basis. My Tablet PC came out and the need for a PDA went out the window, but I can see how a super phone could come in handy. BTW I read all 141 pages. It seems like MS could have done a better job of putting windows in the phone, not some almost-looks-like-windows menus and crap. It does seem like a workable starting point if you know how to get it to do what you want as some users have posted nice screenshots. I think I would like a more utilitarian file-manager (circa windows 3.1 or windows explorer) setup instead of all the icons. Maybe just a decent start menu, control panel, and windows explorer would do? O ya, and a dang help menu.

Posted by: gu5tav011

@deberha2

-The phone does NOT come with a MiniSD expansion card. You can pick up a 1gb for about $70 and a 2gb for about $170.

-The start menu can be changed to list view instead of grid view via a registry change. I don't believe you can do too much custimization to the other menus. However, you can do just about whatever you want with your homescreen. Check out Facade. It will let you put shortcuts to whatever programs you want on the homescreen.

-"transfer files" - Install Microsoft Activesync 4.1 and it is basically drag and drop from there. It will even sync your IE favorites (I don't use IE but I created all my favorites in IE so I wouldn't have to type them in on the phone or email myself the links.)

-"run programs" - Most programs you get will have an executable file that you run on the computer while the phone is connected and it will automatically install on the phone. Some apps are just a *.cab file that you have to copy to the phone and run to install. Running the program is just a matter of opening the shortcut in the start menu.

"a decent start menu" - You can add whatever shortcuts you want to the startmenu.

"a list of "verified" procedures to use to do things" - Check out omega2008's BLOG over at MGM Forums or post questions in the smartphone section of HOFO.

Good luck with your new phones.

Posted by: Omega2008

My blog is a good starting point. If you have any specific questions post them over at MGN or PM me. I check there more than here on Hofo. Enjoy your new phones.

Seems when I try to answer a call with the keypad locked the call hangs up immediately. Is anyone else having this problem? Any possible solutions? Thanks and sorry if this is previously answered in this thread. I Tried to read through it but did not find anything.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Ok, how the heck do I delete that 1m file Cingular Tune.wav

I tried to do it on the phone and thorugh explorer (via Activesync). It tells me it may be 'read only, write protected, or currently in use'. I can't seem to change the read-only property of it.

"currently in use" would more than likely mean that it's the ringer that you have the phone set to. Change the ringer to something else and try again. I had no problem deleting it.

I've already made sure that I don't have that set as any of the 'sounds' in the phone. Any other ideas?

One time it said I couldn't and then I tried again and it worked??? Maybe reboot the phone - connect it and delete it again?

I could not do it via the phone, but I tried again when I had it connected to my computer and it deleted no problem.

Posted by: soonercpa

Re-booted several times. Can't delete from phone or from computer.

It is listed as a read-only file. When I go in through the phone's file manager to un-check the read-only property, it seems to work, but when I click 'done' it reverts back to read-only. I don't know if that is what is keeping me from deleting it or not.

express mail is a pain i use personal edition and it is buggy as all hell. after no hassle use for a week, the push feature went bad and it took a week for seven to address the problem on their server side. over the past couple weeks, the push lags the phone. sometimes i need to reset password setting and reboot to get things back in order.

as for your issue... go to expressmail online > login > go to settings > go to devices > download the phone software and load via activesync...

First of all, I see this thread is chugging right along. Good to see everyone liking the phone (most everyone). Well, I finally got my mits on mine today and found out why it had taken so long. Cingular ceased distribution of the 2125 for a period of time. Listed below is their reasoning. If any of you have had issues installing GoodLink...well, this is why. Either way, some of you who want their devices...well...JUST RIGHT, might want to look into the re-flashing process.

Overview:

Approximately 2,000 Cingular 2125 Smart phones were incorrectly flashed by HTC, the device manufacturer, resulting in a reduction of user-available memory by 3 MB. This shortfall resulted in installation issues for the GoodLink OTA installer, which needs approximately 13 MB to function.

To fix this issue, shipments of Cingular 2125s were halted as of December 22, 2005 to reflash existing inventory and prevent large-scale customer dissatisfaction due to malfunctioning units.

New Cingular 2125 units have been received from HTC and existing inventory has been reflashed, allowing Cingular to resume shipments of Cingular 2125s on January 6, 2006.

To determine user-available memory, please follow this procedure:

1. Go to Start - Settings.
2. Press 0, then 4.

The "Available Storage" should read 15.22 MB for a new device. If it reads 12.22MB, the units should be re-flashed.

The vast majority of users should have no issues with the firmware on the device. The firmware is the correct version and all applications, with the exception of the GoodLink enterprise email solution, should function normally.

GoodLink users will have an issue since GoodLink requires close to 13MB for initial installation. If the user does not intend to install GoodLink, he/she should be able to use the device without any changes.

Anyway, I have my new toy, so now it's time to get comfortable with it. Man do I love the screen!!

Later,
gps

P.S. Oh, to test the available memory and see the above results, your phone must be in "virgin" status...at least I'd think so.

Wanted to share my experience with purchasing the 2125 it started two weeks ago tried to purchase from the B2B site reached a real nice young lady who was real helpful she confirmed my fan price of $269 plus said that I would be able to get the $100 instant discount which would make the phone $169 plus the $18 upgrade fee.Now this seemed like an excellent price so I told her to place my order then she informed after placing me on hold the phone was backordered and the system would not allow her to order and that I would need to call back in a couple of weeks. Well that seemed like a ok experience but last night trying to actually order the phone was hell.I called the same number and a very nice lady got on the phone she asked for the usual account info then wondered what she could do for me I told her what happened two weeks ago and that I was ready to place the order she confirmed they were instock then proceeded to tell me it would be $ 224 dollars plus the upgrade fee(It was at this time I realized the phone price dropped from 269 to 224) I went to the website and lo and behold sure enough it was $224. I then told her that I would be available for the $100 instant discount because I met the criteria which is $39.99 or higher phone plan and a $19.99 or higher data plan she told me that she could not see the $100 off so I asked het to view the Premier site and she could see it for herself...she informed me she could not do it so she placed me on hold for awhile and after about 10 minutes came on line with this guy from tech support she then hung up leaving me with this guy who could barely speak english(can you say outsource). At this time being frustrated I hung up having wasted 40 minutes on the phone already I was gonna get that phone....so I called back a guy answered the phone while trying to explain what happened I realize there is some clicking in the background. What the heck he hung up on me now I am really starting to get pissed so I called back.Yet once again had to go thru the whole plethora of verbage at which she says hold on will converse with my manager after10-15 minutes she comes back on the phone to tell me he is on a break and that she will talk to him when he comes back.I explained to her what the website said and she placed me on hold again after 5 minutes or so another tech comes on the phone. He says understand you you are having problems with the Premier site before he could say anything else I cut in to tell the other customer associate to please not hang up because this guy cant place any order and he confirmed that with her. So then it starts he tells me what kind of error am I getting I told him I am not getting an error just trying to get the right pricing....he then told me in order to get the Premier price I had to order thru the website. Now here is the problem hence the original call in the first place it says right on the website if upgrading a phone or adding a line you must do this by calling and lists the B2B number.Well to make this very long story short he walked me thru the order process realized finally what I was saying and he placed the order for me here is a screenshot of my order page of course this is for new service he had to manually input for me to add a line.

The moral of this story perserverance pays off not only did I get it with the $100 off he also gave me the $25 online discount which makes the phone $99 WOW now that was worth the 3 and a half hours I was on the phone tring to get this done.Sorry for such a long post hope it helps someone else.....

Well, as scary as this sounds, the document just said that customers should call tech support and they would guide the customer in the re-flashing process.

My money's on frustrated customers after hearing "I have no idea what you're talking about."

I did NOT see any link or read any other instructions. I will dig into it some more tomorrow.

p.s. After playing with my 2125 a bit...well, I don't think the little joystick and I are going to get along...AT ALL. In my opinion, it's a flawed design.

Posted by: gu5tav011

Wirelessly posted (HTC-2125/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 176x220) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

I bought the phone for $269. Does anybody have experience with price matching? I would rather pay the $224 price.

Posted by: deberha2

Thanks for your suggestions on my previous post everyone.

I like the joystick - kind of anyway. It takes a while to get the hang of the up down left right and enter functions. It's kind of like typing. If you type fast with all ten fingers, you just hear the keys clicking and don't actually think of what letters you are typing. Once you get the hang of the joystick, it is just click click click, it feels the same really no matter what function you are pushing, you just have to "know" what you are hitting. The motion is so small you can't tell which direction the joystick is actually going. One thing I found is if you are using your thumb on it, put the joystick in the center of your thumbprint when you want to hit the "enter" function. Just mash your whole thumb on it and you will hit "enter" every time. It works well enough overall, but it could have been better. If you put it in the case that it came with without locking the keys, the joystick is pressed often and causes the screen to come on. I've seen a lot of phones with D-pads and such that work much better. There is enough real estate on the front of this phone that they could have made all 5 functions seperate keys. O-well no phone is perfect. This one is pretty good though.

The Cingular Tune is in 2 places. Maybe this is the HTC frag-up. If you are Exploring via ActiveSync trying to delete it in the Windows folder of the phone, well, that ain't gonna happen. If you go to Application Data\Sounds, then you can delete that one.

Good one, your right. I forgot about the other one. The one I deleted was the one in the sounds folder not the one in the windows folder.

The one in the Windows folder is marked as being in ROM and can't be deleted.

Two questions:

1) Does this mean that they haven't fixed any of the other bugs?

2) Is there a different version number for the ROM image? Seems like that might make it easier to tell if you have the latest stuff.

thanks

Nope, its the same ROM that is on the HTC America Site, if you have this problem re flash to that ROM. I will fix the storage problem, thats it.

Glad they got that straightened out for you.

I actually got mine for $99 shipped via my B2B site, but when I paid it said one time charges of $150 but the packing slip read $99 as my final price when I got the phone yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

I can also confirm that my available storage is 13.56mb instead of that 12mb number.

fix the storage problem? What storage problem? I would ask what was that stuff that CNG asked HTC to remove from the ROM to make room for Goodlink.... What is CING's ROM missing that C600 has?

Arrg! The store couldn't get my 2125 in, so they had to re-order it... Figures... Means I got to wait two more weeks... Par for the course out here in the sticks though...

Hey that's the(or similar to one) tool used by J2ME application developers. It's a plug in for Macromedia's Studio8. It works with all* devices that are J2ME or WM5 etc. including an Axim.

*seperate d/l for WM5 and CE devices, but does cover older ARM processors.

Where do you see FREE? I see FREE...for 14 day trial. Then I see 29.99. I've been using Soti's product Pocket Controller for 2 years now for both my IpaQ 4315 and my SMT5600 and I like it alot. I will more than likely continue but I'll give trueconnect a try.

Most importantlty, it works.... You can dial a number and run applications on your phone right from your PC....

Posted by: Omega2008

I can't get this Trueconnect to work. It just hangs on connecting and does nothing.

Posted by: Omega2008

I got it to work now....its ok, I thought it would show the smartphone on the screen and control it from there, not actually map a mouse pointer on the device, which is cool.

Well, both ways have advantages. I believe 2003 SDK had that feature in power toys....
The way this soft works allows to do screen press for PPC applications which is a lot....

What i really like is realization that it can be done, so for example dialing from your PC or clicking on Outlook contact to dial is not that far away. I am not sure why MS has not implemented it yet in Outlook...
BTW. This app works as long ActiveSync is connected so you can use bluetooth too...
I only wish there was an API so someone would write a simple app to type SMSs and dial numbers (simple dial pad) from PC. I work on the phone and PC all day so this would be a great help...

Question...I have media net not the PDA plan.
It won't let me access some sites as html because something keeps forcing them to wap.
Can I just change the CingularGPRS settings under settings>connections>GPRS to force it to keep selecting wap?

If so I'd change the access point from wap.cingular.com to what?
Can I use the username and password settings from my AC860?

I want to assign a custom ringtone to a contact. I have downloaded some mp3s to the phone and put them in the /Application Data/Sounds folder. When I go to the contact edit screen and scroll through the available ringtones, the mp3 file apprears and I can select it, but it will not sample and when I press "Done", the phone clears the selection and goes back to "none". This happens with every mp3 file I have tried. The files vary in size between 400K and 900K and they are encoded between 96 and 192. The files do play through WMP.

Can someone please help? I have to be missing something really simple.

Thanks.

I have no problems viewing HTML on the 2125, I can go to goole.com or the xhtml version (wap) without a problem.

A question for those of you using Cingular's Xpress Mail. I am using the personal edition that redirects email and calendar entries to the phone via the desktop client. The service is unreliable to say the least. Sometimes it works and other times does not. I believe it is just Seven's server problems. [Today I am getting no push]. My question relates to the calendar entries. At home I use Outlook and sync the calendar via Activesync and it works perfectly. At work I sync my Lotus Notes calendar via the Xpress Mail. When it works, it works, but the phone on the homepage will show 2 separate calendar entries. One is the normal calendar and below it are displayed Xpress Mail calendar entries. Does anybody know of a way to combine both entry sources into one calendar? If I look into the "Calendar" program that came with the phone it will not list entried made via Xpress Mail. If I look into the "Calview" program that Xpress Mail uses, I dont see my Activesync'd calendar entries.

Any Ideas? Maybe a registry hack to force both methods to sync to the same program?

Thanks.

I can see it but it redirects the address to wap on mine. I have MediaNet.
Do you have MediaNet only or a PDA plan too?

Try Yahoo.com on yours...
See if it directs you to the WAP. If not I need to talk settings with you.

Oh guess what. I have a little sliver of a scratch in the bottom in the dark grey powder coat. you can barely see it. it's killing me that i've only had the thing for 2 weeks now and I have a ding.

I was all excited about being able to use the battery from my old SMT5600 in my 2125 until I notes a diffference in ohms...(is that how you spell it)

Welll the SMT5600 is 1050 and the 2125 is 1150. What differences will I see using the 1050 in the 2125? Charge takes longer? Runs down faster?

Or should I just quit being a greedy arse and pass my 5600 down to my mom?

I have been using Maniac's auto key lock program for the past week and almost everyday it causes Windows to lock up a bit too well. At times I try to unlock the phone and find that the unlock wont respond so I have to take out the battery to reset the phone. At times also, I have to go through the unlock sequence twice before it unlocks. I am also using the clock screensaver enabled. Has anyone else had such problems? I got tired of it before I can accurately try to diagnose what specific set of circumstances was actually causing the problem, so I have no uninstalled it and the phone has not "crashed" since. Thanks.

Yahoo.com goes to HTML as well or if I type wap.oa.yahoo.com it goes to the WAP version. I have made alot of modifications to my phone and the registry, thats probably one reason why mine works the way it does.

Not having that problem, maybe you should reinstall the program.

Ohms is a measure of resitance. If that battery works then use it. I think that it may drain faster but I am not sure. Test it and find out. Ohms is the omega sign, milliamps is mAH. Are you sure is was ohms are mAH?

I think it is the website that's redirecting you. When it sees (from the headers the browser sends) that you're using a phone it thinks it's doing you a favor by sending you to the WAP version. I don't think there's anything on the phone you can do about it, unless there's some way of making PIE send different headers.

I think the rating you're talking about is really milliamp-hours, and it's a measure of capacity. Essentially, a battery with more mah will run a device longer. Since the voltage and technology are the same for both batteries, I would imagine you can use either.

Has anybody been able to sync a 2125 with Windows Media Player 10? Activesyc 4.1 works fine for me but WMP will not recognize the phone. I realize I can just drag and drop my music on the phone but I will not get Cover art in WMP without syncing.

Any ideas?

-EDIT-
I uninstalled Activesync 4.1, installed 3.8 and reinstalled 4.1 and now WMP is recognizing my phone.

Hey in PIE connections what is your network set to. Wap or Internet?

Access PIE
Menu
9
3
Connections

Is your automatically detect settings checked or unchecked.

I couldn't IMAGINE uninstalling 4 reinstalling installing 3.8 and reinstalling 4.
ActiveSync is an amazing crafty shifty evil sob.

Once you get it to work...consider leaving it alone.

or you'll look like this then like this then like this

I don't really dig WMP anywaze I do Itunes. I won't worry about it until they do the update that incorporates the A2DP profile.

Then I'll consider trying to get the WMP sync to work.

Did I tell ya'll that I have the Moto HT820 BT stereo headset and it doesn't work with iTunes. Only WMP. So if you're gonna listen to songs wirelessly from your laptop you gotta do it though WMP. I wonder if the 2125 in conjunction with the A2DP profile connected to the HT820 will require WMP too. There is a great player for WM2k5 SP that has equalisers etc.

Ok need help just got my 2125 earlier today trying to set up the internet what are the settings suppose to be
1)connects to
2)access point
3)user name
4)password

6)secondary dns
7)ip address

Currently have connects to wap access point wap.cingular user name WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM password cingular1 #5 and #6 blank ip address 066.209.011.061 however with those settings get error message and can't get online any help would be appreciated.

hey guys/gals,

I've been lurking in this thread for too long and I've finally decided I can't take it anymore. Sooo... I'm probably going to be porting in from verizon within the next few days. I qualify for the $100 premiere price through school; but i hate two year contracts. Is there anyway to get some premiere discounts with a one year?

Then it means you can use either battery, but the one from the 2125 should last longer.

Finally, after more than a month since its release, the 2125 is finally appearing in the price lists for the stores in Puerto Rico since last Tuesday. I hope that translates into the phone being available by next week. I've been very disappointed with how long Cingular has taken to bring in this phone compared to recent lower-end phones.

Allright, so I finally ordered a 2125 (for only 118.00 ) and it should be here next week. I've browsed as much as this huge thread as I can but I was wondering, is there a definitive 'How to get setup' or 'Things you need to do to your phone' guide floating out there instead of random bits and pieces?

Thanks.

Not as far as I know. This info would depend largely on how you plan on using your new phone. I would recommend getting a new homescreen, as well as, the home screen plugin Facade and the calendar app Papyrus. Also, if you plan on watching videos on your 2125, I would recommend downloading TCPMP. All of these should be found rather easily by searching on Google.

I've played with my 2125 for a couple weeks now. My biggest complaint is that recorded audio stutters for a second intermittently (actually it sounds as though the phone is gargling). Sometimes it is worse than others. I does it on Windows Media Player, Audible's player, and streaming audio from the internet. I've tried playing media from the phone's memory and from the mini-SD with no effect. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks. --COFFEY

Yes. One. When you ask for help be more specific i.e. what audio, what format, what bit rate.... I would expect the phone to stutter on 1500kbs PCM but it does not on 128K CBR WMA or 192kbs VBR mp3

This post is dedicated to anybody with ethical issues concerning haggling with CING or using a fake FAN account number to get a discount... Read the quote post again, CING is now offering the phone for a lower price then in December.
It makes perfect sense to haggle and cheat as CING is not treating its customers fairly... I would rather cheat then be cheated...

Price high when supply is short(new and exciting) and price low when it's just a phone. There is a saying( I beieve it was Andrew Carnegie's) the true price of something is what people will pay nothing more nothing less.

We recently had a perceived gas crunch and through hysteria prices skyrocketed. Who knows the truth about the real cost of fuel except for the Exxon's of the world. It's also funny they also reported a 30% increase in profits in the same period. OUCH!

It's becoming a sport. Who will get "got" today?

I'm certain that I'm demonstrating my ignorance in this area by not providing the correct information up front because I don't know what information is relevant. However it seems to be all audio:

- Any of my mp3 or wma files converted using Windows Media Player 10. The wma files are about 2.5 meg. I have the problem whether or not the files are stored on the phone or the mini sd.

- The downloaded Audible.com files are 50-60 meg each. I don't know the specifics of the audible formats.

- The streaming internet is coming from a variety of websites (kera.org, ktck.com) and I'm using the Windows Media Player delivery option.

All of the files above still work on my SMT5600 without a hitch. Just the 2125 is having problems. I don't know enough about audio files to share the bit rate or other basic tech info and I'm not asking anyone to do any research. I was just hoping that someone might have encountered and fixed a similar problem.

considering how buggy this service is already, why would you complicate things further?

so far, my xpressmail_pe has been a real pain! for that matter, general internet connectivity is less than consistant

In light of this post, I got this in an email today from cing:

"This order includes an upgrade to a new Next Generation (GSM/GPRS) phone. To activate the new phone, remove the existing SIM card from your old phone, and place it into the new phone, then turn the new phone on."

Should I ***** to a Cingular store asking for a free 64k SIM?

mrcoffey

I am really trying to help here but there is not enough info...
One thing up front, streaming files from the internet is different than from your card or phone. Through the internet it all depends it the bandwith provided by GPRS/EDGE is enough to support that...
ABout the files in your phone/card just makes sure you keep a resonable bitrate which is I believe 128/192 kbps for wma (you can check the converting settings in WM option on your desktop)....
I would stay away from VBR as it needs more cpu time hence the battery time sufferes as well...
The last your phone maybe defective, who knows... Take it to the store maybe they can find the problem and/or replace it there...

Good luck

Alright. I just got my 2125 in the mail yesterday. Is there a way to copy the contacts from the SIM to the phone, or they they always live on the SIM card? With my last two phones, you could copy contacts back and forth between the SIM card and the phone.

Thanks,
Chris.

Did you order through the Business website? When did you order? How many days did it get to you?

I am excited on receiving mine (well it's for my brother...but as long as I get to play with it)

Try the software SmartPhoneStudio (or simply SPStudio). It should be readily found by searching on google (im not sure if Im allowed to post links to stuff like that)

OK I've been playing with the 2125 for a couple of weeks. I must say I get giddy everytime I pick it up. It is a fantastic device. The RF is better but not as exceptional as I've heard.

The OS is kick ***. I do believe I may be able to give up my iPaq for this.

You can now stream Sirius on your 2125, or any WM5 smartphone fo that matter.

I got the source code for an older version of SiriuCE, fixed it, and ported it to WM5 Smartphone and VS 2005.

I will be testing it in the coming days a little more, but right now it supports Ocatne and BuzzSaw. I'll be adding all of the other channels that Sirius streams shortly... including Howard Stern's Channels when they are available.

Anyone interested?

BTW

You must install the latest .NET Compact framework 2.0 on your phone.

I actually ordered it on eBay because they people at Cingular had no clue when it would be available. I got a brand new one for slightly less than I would have paid in the store.

I am VERY interested! Will you post your modified code on this forum or on a seperate website? I would have it announced on GetSiriusInfo and Orbitcast when you get everything working. I would like to be able to stream the Indie channel "Left of Center" on the go.

Get the compact framework here;

.Net Compact Framework 2.0

Connect your device, double click the msi.

Get SiriusWM5 here:

SiriusWM5

Unzip and copy to your phone using ActiveSync Explorer.

Use file manager and click SiriusWM5.exe

More channel support will be added this week.

I am curious about this as well. POP3 Gmail did the same thing to me... that would sort of make it useless if you cannot keep email messages. I have a Hotmail setup via POP3 and it does not delete received messages after I "send and receive."

Any ideas?

What download speeds is everyone getting? Every time I try on all the options including 600k, I get too fast/unstable (.551 seconds) or something similar. I'm in Edge area. It says too fast every time I have tried it.

You weren't synced through a pc when you ran this test, were you? That's the only way the 2125 could ever download 600k in half a second.

You can sign up for a guest account which last for 3 days, otherwise yes. If you have alot of free time, re-sign up every three days.

BTW guys...

I just removed .NET CF 2 from my phone, and the app still works fine with no issues.

So.... if you have WM5, all you need is the EXE and no need to eat 5MB on your handset.

Works great! I've been waiting for a SP5 version of SiriusCE to show up. Thanks bitslap47!

OMEGA! Is the A2DP profile really coming in an update in February?

I'm dying to know!

Hey guys quick question....

I installed a one gig sd card in my 2125. I moved all the media files from the phone storage to the card and everything was fine for a week. Now i keep getting an Alert that says, "your phone is running low on free sroage space. Delete old or unused items to create more space." The only thing i can imagine is that my emails and sms messages are not being stored on the card because i deleted all the photos and programs and still have the Alert.

Is there a way to have the phone store my messages, or just default store everything on the card?

Help me lose this annoying Alert!

Thanks alot in advance for your time and for all your past posts. I learn something new everyday about my phone just be reading this forum.

There is a registry tweak for storing messages on the card but they warn of possible FAT32 corruption and loss of data.
I have also reveived the memory error. I keep forgetting it isn't a standard iPaq with a 64Mb rom.
Did you get your handset prior to 1/1? There may be a rom flash that can be performed to resolve your memory storage problem.

Everytime I try to install a java program, I get the following message on the phone "Invalid java archive (jar)". Has anyone else received this error? I have tried a half dozen different programs and I always get the same message. I had installed a couple of java programs [google local maps and an rss reader] and they were working fine for a while. Is it a problem with the java software on the phone that has become corrupted somehow? How can I fix this?

I tried it without .NETCF and it worked fine. Great work, my coworker who has Sirius is jelous of me, until I told him we only had some stations on it so far.

I did find a bug that if you try to hit Connect without selecting one first, then it bombed out on me.

Just an FYI...

I looked at my account online today, and under Medianet UNLIMITED I have 18450 KB USED, and 18450 KB in OVERAGE.

I called Cing CS, and got a guy that said, "well, the 2125 is a PDA, so you are on the wrong plan, so any data will be overage since its a PDA phone".

I told him that when I ORDERED the phone they gave me MediaNet because the website didn't even offer the PDA data option as available, so they gave me MediaNet Unlimted which is the way it should be.

So he spoke to a SUP, and he came back and said, " Well SUP says its a smartphone, so it shouldn't be racking up PDA data like that. I'll note the account and if you get a bill with data overage call us and we'll take it off."

But the problem is, if Cing is going to wind up forcing the PDA Data plan on me, I don't want the damn thing, and if it taked them longer than 30 days to decide this, I won't be able to send the phone back.

Anyone else noticing data used is the exact same amount as data overage on your online bill stats?

cfg!

The 2125 is not a PDA; it's a Smartphone and even the latest data brochure from Cingular acknowledges that.
Quote:
From the Cingular brochure: Data Plans that Work as Hard as You:

Smartphone: Microsoft Windows Mobile functionality in a compact phone design.
PDA: Manage your entire day - on the go. Check and answer your email; browse the wireless web with a PDA.

Then it has a table with the various data plans, where MEdiaNet plans are offered for Smartphones while Data Connect and PDA Connect are offered for PDA's.

Don't fall for the "that phone is a PDA and it shouldn't be using the MEdiaNet plan" crap. Stop by a Cingular store and get a copy of that data brochure. I'm planning to hold on to my copy in case some jerk at Cingular tries to pull that one on me.

The more likely cause for the Memory Warning may be the same reason I used to get it. Temporary Internet Files. If you use PIE, all your temp files, cookies, and history is stored on your phone. Try Opening PIE go to Menu>Options>Memory and Clear all the Files. If this solves your problem, than all you need to do is make a few easy reg tweaks to PIE. Let me know if that works for ya.

i just got off phone with b2b. they can't seem to figure out why my 2125 won't connect with the network. after hours... they suggested sending me a new phone. i asked for the 8125 and was told it will ship today and i will receive it tomorrow. COULD IT BE TRUE???

i'll check with cingular online shipping/tracking later and see what comes up.

Backup your contacts and phones, go here http://www.htcamerica.net/support/software_updates.htm Download the one under Cingular 2125 Software version 1.8.42.14 and follow the directions. Yes it will erase everything.

I woke up this morning to find that at some point in time I had scratched the screen on my 2125! These scratches dont appear to be very deep at all and are hardly noticable with the display off unless viewed under certain lighting; however, when the phone is on, and especially when the display is white, the scratches are blatantly obvious as they create somewhat of a "rainbow" effect. I am very very upset about this, and not sure what to do at this point. Will HTC repair this or replace my LCD under warranty or can I even pay to have the LCD replaced? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe I was one of the first to recive my 2125, 2-3 days after its release. My 2125 is already running 1.8.42.14, so I don't think that this is an update for anyone who recived a 2125 directly from Cingular, post-release. Unless, for some reason you have a pre-release unit from a Cingular employee or something like that, you should not have any need for the 1.8.42.14 ROM.

I noted the same problem with all my pop3 email including gmail disappearing after the emails are read, over 2 weeks ago, no one commented at that time. I've looked many times and can't find a setting to fix this. Hopefully some clever sole will find a config setting or registry hack to fix this.

Also about the MediaNet Unlimited, mine had all data listed as OVERAGE as well but I was told by CS not to worry about it that I would not be charged it just displays that way. I was not charged for 20MB for it on my bill even though it said it was overage. It is a smartphone and therefore the MediaNet Unlimited applies, do not listen to the you need a PDA plan bulls**t.

There is a registry tweak out there to decrease the amout of space for PIE but when you change it and turn the darn thing off and back on...

VOILA

It's back to the previous setting.

SmartphoneThoughts has the tweak.

Quick question about Xpressmail...how do I delete my damn account?

When I first registered, I accidently selected 'Access to Personal Email' instead of 'Access to Work/Corporate Email' (I want the push). Now I can't modify my account type or delete it through the web interface to start over. Help!

Update Available Here: SiriusWM5

Changes:
- Changed to list view from combo box (SMT 5600 compatibility issue)
- Channel list driven by text file (Channels.txt)
- Save Guest Status, UserName, Password, Last Channel on Exit.

The text file must be in the same directroy as the EXE and PDB files.

Cool. Thanks man. Got your PM also.

I appreciate the feedback, and I'm (glad) that someone else has at least noticed the 'overages' in their data.

My text messages aren't even showing up, either. I found that odd, too.

I also had this phone days after it's release. I was responding to Marley fan because of the memory errors appearing on the phone. Remember this post from GPS...

I went to HTC and updated my ROM and I got those 3 MBs added to my available memory. Even though the ROM number is the same, it will give you 3MB if you only had the 12.22MB to begin with. There have been other people that have done the same and have gained the 3 MBs. Now this may not solve the memory issues for Marleyfan, if that was not the problem.

My text messages don't show up either. I would hate for them to be added up and billed later.

so i called to find out what exactly was shipped... a replacement 2125 is on the way. too bad! i have come to dislike this damn thing. sure, edge speed beats non-edge but other than the qvga, i don't find it much better than the 5600 it's replaced. onboard memory is not sufficient to run spwm5 without lag. email is buggy and god forbid the xpressmail_pe push runs for more than 12-hours without need for a power-cycle-boot to get the cache clear. at least the 5600 was easier to t9 since the keys weren't squished together. good luck t9 2-thumbing. bt w/jabra b110 is also buggy... voicedial is finickie. excuse the rant but i'm pissed. after coming to accept the stupid looking hump since the rf is better than the 5600, i now look at the deformed lump with pity

we wait for 8125...

Yeah I see the exact same thing, with the words MediaNetUnlimited right underneath it. Since they just noted your account, I'll see what happens with the first bill and go from there.

Also, Has anyone having problems sending email to the Cingular SMTP server cwmx.com? I keep getting replies that it's an invalid recipient and puts the message in my Outbot. I've tried many different email addresses, all come back bad.

When they start giving you crap about the data plan issue, point them to their own press release, released today:
2125 Press Release

Quoted directly from the release:

"The Cingular 2125 can be purchased for as low as $199 with a two-year contract and qualified voice plan. The Cingular MEdia Net monthly unlimited data plan for the Cingular 2125 is $19.99."

The MediaNet Unlimited is different than the other MediaNet plans. They include some text messaging.

I did not get billed for data Overages, however MediaNet Unlimited is data only (this includes pop3), but does not include text messages. They are billed per message not per kbyte. My text messages were billed at 10cents each. I haven't decided whether to get a text message plan or pay alacarte.

I don't have either plan. I only use so many messages per month that I don't need a messaging plan. And I never go on the internet so I don't have a plan for that either. I just pay for the messages I send. The thing is that they aren't showing up on my bill.
