The phones are great. My significant other requested that I "make her ringer louder". That simple request took three hours of searching, but I finally found the answer here. It seems that the phone will do a lot but some of the simple things are really hard to do. (smart phone newby here). Any other phone you would push the volume button and the ringer would get louder (like it says to do in the user manual!!!!!) but that doesn't work. I have a question - did anyone get a memory card with their phone? I was under the impression that one (small) memory card came with the phone, but both of mine only have the "base" memory. I would have liked to see more options for changing the layout/icons/menus to something that is more intuitive or easier to use without hacking into it (and having to learn how to hack a phone at the same time). Is there anywhere that has a list of "verified" procedures to use to do things? I don't want to experiment, I just want instructions and verfied results. I need to learn how to transfer files, run programs, move files, modify files, etc. I am a computer geek since the days of DOS but have ditched PDAs (and similar gadgets) after having to learn graffiti and replacing AA batteries on a daily basis. My Tablet PC came out and the need for a PDA went out the window, but I can see how a super phone could come in handy. BTW I read all 141 pages. It seems like MS could have done a better job of putting windows in the phone, not some almost-looks-like-windows menus and crap. It does seem like a workable starting point if you know how to get it to do what you want as some users have posted nice screenshots. I think I would like a more utilitarian file-manager (circa windows 3.1 or windows explorer) setup instead of all the icons. Maybe just a decent start menu, control panel, and windows explorer would do? O ya, and a dang help menu.

Cingular ceased distribution of the 2125 for a period of time. Listed below is their reasoning. If any of you have had issues installing GoodLink...well, this is why. Either way, some of you who want their devices...well...JUST RIGHT, might want to look into the re-flashing process.
Overview: Approximately 2,000 Cingular 2125 Smart phones were incorrectly flashed by HTC, the device manufacturer, resulting in a reduction of user-available memory by 3 MB. This shortfall resulted in installation issues for the GoodLink OTA installer, which needs approximately 13 MB to function. To fix this issue, shipments of Cingular 2125s were halted as of December 22, 2005 to reflash existing inventory and prevent large-scale customer dissatisfaction due to malfunctioning units. New Cingular 2125 units have been received from HTC and existing inventory has been reflashed, allowing Cingular to resume shipments of Cingular 2125s on January 6, 2006. To determine user-available memory, please follow this procedure: 1. Go to Start - Settings. 2. Press 0, then 4. The "Available Storage" should read 15.22 MB for a new device. If it reads 12.22MB, the units should be re-flashed. The vast majority of users should have no issues with the firmware on the device. The firmware is the correct version and all applications, with the exception of the GoodLink enterprise email solution, should function normally. GoodLink users will have an issue since GoodLink requires close to 13MB for initial installation. If the user does not intend to install GoodLink, he/she should be able to use the device without any changes. Anyway, I have my new toy, so now it's time to get comfortable with it. Man do I love the screen!! Later, gps P.S. Oh, to test the available memory and see the above results, your phone must be in "virgin" status...at least I'd think so. |

| I have been using Maniac's auto key lock program for the past week and almost everyday it causes Windows to lock up a bit too well. At times I try to unlock the phone and find that the unlock wont respond so I have to take out the battery to reset the phone. At times also, I have to go through the unlock sequence twice before it unlocks. I am also using the clock screensaver enabled. Has anyone else had such problems? I got tired of it before I can accurately try to diagnose what specific set of circumstances was actually causing the problem, so I have no uninstalled it and the phone has not "crashed" since. Thanks. |

I was all excited about being able to use the battery from my old SMT5600 in my 2125 until I notes a diffference in ohms...(is that how you spell it) Welll the SMT5600 is 1050 and the 2125 is 1150. What differences will I see using the 1050 in the 2125? Charge takes longer? Runs down faster? Or should I just quit being a greedy arse and pass my 5600 down to my mom? |

Not having that problem, maybe you should reinstall the program. Ohms is a measure of resitance. If that battery works then use it. I think that it may drain faster but I am not sure. Test it and find out. Ohms is the omega sign, milliamps is mAH. Are you sure is was ohms are mAH? |

My question relates to the calendar entries. At home I use Outlook and sync the calendar via Activesync and it works perfectly. At work I sync my Lotus Notes calendar via the Xpress Mail. When it works, it works, but the phone on the homepage will show 2 separate calendar entries. One is the normal calendar and below it are displayed Xpress Mail calendar entries. Does anybody know of a way to combine both entry sources into one calendar? If I look into the "Calendar" program that came with the phone it will not list entried made via Xpress Mail. If I look into the "Calview" program that Xpress Mail uses, I dont see my Activesync'd calendar entries.
Any Ideas? Maybe a registry hack to force both methods to sync to the same program? Thanks. |

I did not get billed for data Overages, however MediaNet Unlimited is data only (this includes pop3), but does not include text messages. They are billed per message not per kbyte. My text messages were billed at 10cents each. I haven't decided whether to get a text message plan or pay alacarte. |
