well, i have a s710a and i was thinking about getting the w600. Only problem is that i dont really like how it looks. Then i found out about the w550c. If i purchase the w600, can i switch the faceplates, so it would look like a w550c? and will my sim card work on it (which works with my s710a)?

First, the w600 comes with two faceplates, and I am sure you can buy additional ones to swap. Secondly, if you have a Cingular sim, it will work with a Cingular branded w600. If you use another carrier, there will be an unlocked version you can use...

uh... the w600 and the w550c looks exactly the same.

I think he may be referring to the orange color...

but the orange faceplate is exactly the same...

So, if i have a cingular Sim card, then it will work, correct?

if the phone is unlocked, yes

One Last Question: if the w600 and the w550 look the same and have very similar firmware, whats the diffrence between them?

The w600i is quad band.....
My question now would be...can you flash the w550 with the w600 firmware? Making it quadband?

i would think its hardware... and not software, because it doesnt make sense for SE to put 2 exact same phone...

Why not...Motorola has done it...

That's because Motorola doesn't set "making sense" as a business priority! There phones PROVE that. 8)

But, historically, band differences in SE are hardware based. Like the T610 and T616 which look IDENTICAL, but have different bands. The difference was also hardware. I have heard early reports of people flashing W550i firmware onto the W600i and it did NOT work at all. Have not yet heard of people flashing the other way.
