i searched and couldn't find any thread with this as a topic, but i've been with cingular for a little over a year and decided to put my 2 weeks in finally (couldn't have happened soon enough). my question is - is there any possible way to keep my phone number on my cou line (maybe port it to a regular number? - or maybe port it out to another company and port it right back to a regular rate plan?) if anyone can offer a solution to this i'd really appreciate it, whether it be by replying here or sending me a pm. my last resort is to ask the manager/district manager/hr but i figured i'd see if anyone here has done it. thanks for any and all help

my manager is working on helping me keep mine, of course I'm keeping Cingular service too, at the moment anyway.

do you know what's involved in the process?? we all know it's a process haha

The official policy (at least in my region) is that you cannot keep that number, even if you originally owned that number and then turned it into a cou.

That didn't bother me when I left because I just opened a blue account and specified a sweet @ss! number

I'm sure you could do something similar on the orange side as well. But if your original number is important to you don't count on keeping it. Just set up a voicemail on the old phone with your new phones number.

In our region also you cannot keep that #. They say its considered to be a Cingular owned # even if you paid for it for over 5 years like I did, and the boss paid for his since it was cellular one I believe. He wanted to roll it over to a regular plan and keep it that way and they still wouldnt do it. They told him that he could start a new plan with a new # if he wanted to stay with Cingular. We were an indirect though I dont know if the same policy would apply but I would think that type of issue would be the same all around.

thanks everyone for the input..
xj911- if you could keep me updated on your situation i'd appreciate it.

Well I keep in contact with the manager every other day, and he said he put an order in through NEAS to have me keep the number. Still getting free service so far though...hehe

i did hear of one employee porting his # out to tmobile on a prepaid and then do what you will from there. you already gave your 2 weeks what can they do fire you? hahahaha ive got my plan in place just waiting for the call from Metro

your cou number is owned by cingular wireless. you cant keep it. your ERP on the other hand you can convert them to customer line

Technically though, I don't see why they couldn't port it out before their sim was deactivated.

i like my cou number, but my erp is a xxx-xxx-2000 type number.

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

you
*could* port it out............

but i wont go in details.

Posted by: ASimpleFarmer

because cingular see's the COU phone number as owned by us (cingular)

so we keep the number within our pool.

trust me, life isnt that good here ASF :/

Oh i agree. I see it at my store at times.

I find it more painful for the vets. they saw the changes and had to be screwed by it

We actually had a guy leave that got to keep his number. He had originally paid for that number when he was a customer and had it transferred to a cou line when he was hired. Before he quit, he paid to have business cards printed and claimed that he had already been handing outs cards to his current and future clients (he went into mortgaging). He showed all of this info to our boss who in turn show it to his. Our regional manager gave the ok for his number to be converted into a post paid account. It tooks a few weeks for all of this to happen but he got what he wanted.
