Is there any way to make the ringer louder than a whisper when recieveing an incoming call?My best friend just bought the phone at retail price from verizon and so far this is his only gripe.

I was directed by a salesman at Telus Mobility, which seems to be essentially Verizon, to get a 6600. I thought the features where fantastic but I returned it the next morning as the ringer volume was so low as to be totaly useless as a phone.

The next say I decided to contact Audiovox directly. It turns out that Telus/Verizon had instructed Audiovox to limit the ring volume in software. Essentially the same complaint I had with the Motorola V710 I bought last year which also had excelent features but was 'crippled' by the request of Telus and Verizon.

According to Audiovox, the replacement phone, the 6700 has corrected this issue and seems to have some other improvments as well. I am looking forward to trying one this week.

Im sure sooner or later a software 'hack' wil be available for the 6600 but considering the complex nature of the device I would not be willing to try it as it could interfere with some of the PDA aspects of it and that could be a disaster if one actually uses the thing.
