Using mp3's as ringtones on VX9800?

When installing mp3 ringtones on the VX9800 using Bitpim, you "Send Phone Data" using the option "Replace All".

Does this cause the factory installed ringers to be overwritten?

Even if not using Bitpim, but using Sofer's method or QPST, are the stock or factory installed lost or overwritten?

Or are the new mp3 ringtones saved in a different directory or area, allowing both the factory ringtones, and the now new mp3 ringtones to all be on there together?

None of these methods will remove factory ringtones.
Factory ringtones are always available whether or not you have installed your own, you cannot get rid of them.

like skyjunky said, the factory ringtones cannot be deleted.. atleast not easily

I've managed to erase my factory ringtones through BitPim and now my VX9800 is freaking out. Everytime I try to perform a function, it clicks and restarts, I can't look at anything, make calls, etc. I guess I need to either do a factory reset or get the original ringtone files back. HELP!!!! I have a useless $400 phone!

I don't have my 9800 anymore otherwise I'd send you the originals...

However, you could goto VZW and have'em re-flash your phone which will re-install all missing files.. Obviously. don't mention bitpim or howard forums lol.. Just act dumb!

And, finally, leave the original files alone!!

EDIT: backup your phonebook, downloaded software etc... re-flashing will reset the phone to it's OEM settings and most likely erase your personalizations... Goodluck!
