TV and the movement sensor are the only difference?
904 must be much cooler as I get.

the phone and all its features work in JAPAN ONLY.

this is not a quadband phone like 903, 902, 802, 801, 802se etc

Posted by: MODist

Kevbodian, is there some euro version of 604?
May be soon?

Posted by: totaltoanage

No You Noob Read The Above Post!!

Posted by: khaltire

903 and 902 are quadband as in japan network + 900/1800/1900 right?

Oh man, I dunno what I should do now. I really like the look of the phone, much thinner as well. My friend is getting my 903 tomorrow! WHAT SHOULD I DO ahhh.. do you think vodafone learned this time how to really lock it? The 903 was on shelves for such a short time. Man I dunno... They are out of stock for the 903 in black now (what I wanted)

Also, is it just me or does the v604 not have bluetooth? I think this is a step down in model compared to the 903 (despite having almost the same specs). this is from the next generation, but has the same specs almost. It has a lower name v604 because its somewhere in the middle of what they will soon be releasing... Theres gonna be a 904 or something

Posted by: khaltire

Oh damn I just noticed it doesnt have GSM.. I guess vodafone is smartening up you could say... or maybe they dont have alot of people that use GSM over here from japan I dunno

Posted by: AL9999

I've said this so many times...

If you see a phone being sold by Vodafone Japan and it starts with V1, V2, V3, V4, V5 or V6, it only works in Japan. They don't have GSM or W-CDMA support. They only have PDC network support, a type exclusive to Japan only.

Also in the case of the V604SH, the TV tuner only receives NTSC-J signals and the FM radio only tunes 76-88MHz, making both of them useless outside Japan. You MIGHT be able to make the TV tuner receive US NTSC signals, I don't know.

Unless a Vodafone Japan phone starts with 7, 8, or 9, or is advertised as a Vodafone 3G phone, forget about ever seeing it work outside Japan.

Posted by: khaltire

Im sure thats true but Ive seen the 903 as "V903SH" or "V903" 100% on the vodafone kk website in the past

yes and 9 isn't part of 1-6

Posted by: khaltire

oh right.. lol gotcha

Posted by: BMWFilms

it's stupid that Sharp put in still capturing software into their phone but u can't use the images or video clips saved as ringtones, wallpapers, etc. Maybe the 604 is a sign of what's to come in the 904 and please God make it GSM triband or heaven permit quad band plus W-CDMA!

Posted by: deadTamago

the v6 series of Vodafone JP lineup is supposed to be a "watered down" version of some of models in their 3G lineup...
but they're not much less than the 90x series!

with the price tag of approx. 23000 yen with a new contract,
man... any service provider in Canada will have me as a customer if they can come up with phones like that!

Posted by: BMWFilms

Canadian GSM providers just cater to the cheap $0 down crowd.

Posted by: MODist

Very interesting information!

Posted by: jack_d12

not trying to argue but i see the v302sh is a gsm phone ! that is the xera gz100 or something ! it's v3 phone but is gsm! i don't see it listed under the vodafone 3g part so i'm guessing it's the same phone! unless they got two versions of it which i think is completely stupid!

Posted by: UncleAllEvil

Yes, that`s true V302SH is old`n good GX25:
http://www.vodafone.jp/english/prod...02sh/index.html
at last it looks the same for me.
I have Vodafone UK catalog in front of me and it says that GX25 is Triband phone so V302Sh might be same phone but with J-network support only

Posted by: BMWFilms

yeah but would you really want a rebadged and maybe reworked GX25?

Posted by: MODist

Doesn't 604 work in GSM roaming?

Posted by: BMWFilms

N-O...it's PDC only and the mini antenna doesn't bother me at all.

That's not true at all, the V6 series for a long time actually greatly surpassed the quality of the 3G lineup until recently. Even now, the specs of the V604SH are somewhat superior to the 903SH, so it's not watered down at all.

This is the only case ever of a GSM phone being modified to work in Japan, it's always been the other way around In this case the V302SH is like the V604SH in that it connects to PDC networks only - ie Japan specific. The only reason I can think of you wanting the JP version here is the different colour selection - black, white and yellow.

No... all V1-V6 phones connect to PDC networks only. They never have GSM support. You need a 70x, 80x or 90x phone for GSM support (except NEC ones, which are hard coded (ie can't be unlocked) to VF Japan's network and don't have hardware GSM support, only W-CDMA).

Posted by: BMWFilms

I like the NEC 703N. Wish that baby had GSM support in addition to W-CDMA

Posted by: AL9999

The 802N and 703N are nice looking phones but I'm told that the 703N is virtually a carbon copy of the 802N with just the exterior design changed (both feature and firmware UI wise), so the 703N is effectively a design-conscious phone here.

Posted by: BMWFilms

Yeah I know I just have a thing for leather laden phones.

Posted by: AL9999

Heh fair enough. Leather is kinda rare on phones at the moment

Posted by: BMWFilms

I'd take this colour if I had to pick a 604SH

Posted by: AL9999

Yeah so would I. I really don't like the idea of two-tone colour schemes.

Posted by: BMWFilms

I actually find the 604SH to be more attractive now that I stare at it a little more.

Posted by: Kevbodian

it looks like the 802 and 902 had a baby and named it 604

Posted by: MODist

Pictures made with SHARP V604SH.

Look very very nice.

Posted by: totaltoanage

why is everyone going crazy over this phone, the only function worth marvelilng about is the tv tuner which is only abailable in japan because it only supports NTSC-J. We dont even know it if it supports NTSC or PAL. I like the design of the 903 alot better even if the theres no external screen.

Posted by: volcompunk

lol it's the same camera in the 903
