heyy all,

ive done a a search in this forum, but i came up blank, hoping you call help me :-D

i recieved my SMT 5600 from cingular about 3 days ago, imediatly going to howardforums.com to learn what i could do with it, through the forums i found a number of sites that offered free games/files. I downloaded some files, and my question is, how do i install them on the phone?

this is what the files look like in "my document":

any help would be greatly appriciated :-D
thank you

assuming that those files are .cab files you just go to the file manager on the phone and find the .cab file and click on it. Then it will install the app/game. I just got my SMT 5600 last night and I love it! going from an i860 with Nextel to the SMT 5600 with Cingular is a huge jump up and im loving it so far.

thanks, but where on the phone do u put the files?

and when i open the files (using winrar) i see:

do i copy the .xml file to the phone OR am i using the wrong type of file completly
i know little about this phone :'(

-thanks to understanding my newbness

Basically, don't open the file with Winrar. Just copy the .cab file into a directory on the phone. Use the built in file manager (on the phone) and 'select' the file. It will figure out what to do from there (install).

oh, that makes it easier :-D

do u any specific place on the phone to put the file?

-thanks alot!

Here's a direct quote from the SMT5600 manual:

Quote:
If the program installation is done via a CAB file, copy
the CAB file to the \Storage\My Documents folder of your
phone. Then select it in File Manager (explained on the
next page) and press the Action button; it will then install
automatically

No. The 5600 didn't come with a manual. I don't think the AT&T branded models supplied a printed manual in the box.

No advice to give, as I haven't added anything but Google Maps to the phone, but if you want more to read about this phone and what others have done with/to it, look at MoDaCo. I'd post the url, but I'm not sure if it's allowed.

I just finished flashing my v635 to 90R, but once the ROKR gets here (or an e398), I might just have some questions. Thanks for the offer.

i have a Cingular Branded one, but i believe the brought the 5600 over from Att and why loose money supplieing manuels?

and as i belive as long as the program is legal, (like not a bootleg) and it is freeware, you can post it.

and no problem, dont forget to check out the Motorola Forums, they are very usefull.

Well, it's another forum, more for smartphones like the 5600. I don't know the rules about linking to other forums, other than let's say, motomodders.

Yes, I've been reading a lot. I had flashed my v551 previously, and will probably use Yager's on mt v635 once all the little niggly bugs are worked out of it. In the meantime, I have had no issues with 90R after upgrading directly from the stock Rogers .8 (I think) version.

oh, im new to flashing and flexing, dont know much but im trying to learn,
(sorry to dissapoint you)

but! posting a link to another forum is fine, maybe we could bring that thread to this forum? (if you want to PM it to me feel free)

-thanks for staying with me, have a good weekend!
