Trying to ditch a Kyocera QCP6035

OK... just got a S40 from Cingular, which means I'm moving into the GSM world from my trusty Sprint CDMA environs. Here's the deal, I'm a self-confessed Palm junkie, and have carried a Palm (now, a Kyocera QCP6053) for many moons. Problem is, the Kyocera is like walking around with a brick, and it looks like some type of Atari-era game device.

So, I'm trying to move to the S40 and put about 700 names, 300 appointments (6 months worth) and stuff into the darn thing via infra-red to a W2K/Outlook XP terminal. Have I fallen off my rocker? Does anybody use the S40 that heavily for PIM type use?
Suggestions?

Best Regards,
Broadbandman

Haven't heard of such a heavy use so far but shouldn't be a problem in principle. Make sure you use the latest phone (3.2.0 or higher) and PC (XTND Connect PC 4.5) software.
Don't forget to check the matching of the record fields in the application options. The S40 has only one name field that is not split into first and last name. You should apply a formula like S40 name = last name + ',' + Space + first name.
Be aware that about 1,000 entries is the absolute maximum the S40 can store. The last few may don't fit into the memory.
