PhoneArena.com reports that the first UIQ Symbian smartphone from Nokia was approved by the FCC. Nokia uses Symbian in their smartphones, but with their own Nokia Series 60/80/90 interface. This is the first Nokia phone (actually it is a rebranded Benq P31), to use the UIQ Interface, widely utilized in Sony Ericsson smartphones.

The Nokia 6708 has 208x320-pixels touch display, which can show up to 65k colors. On its back it has 1.3-megapixel camera with mirror for self-picture and a stylus. The phone is operating on GSM 900/1800/1900 and UMTS 2100 networks, but lacks second camera for video calling. It also has Bluetooth and USB for local connectivity with other devices.

Still there is no official information if the device will be offered in US or Europe (as it was announced only for Asia), but after it already scored the FCC approval it can be used in the US.
