Few questions about VS7

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

hello all VS7 users, i am considering to get one of these phones for myself but i have a few questions that popped up as i was looking around for opinions on the net and i was wondering if you would be able to answer them for me. (listed in order from most worried to least worried)

1. Is the receiver on the phone really that low volume? Can you hear the person on the other end talking when you are in a busy / loud area?

2. Is the vibration on the phone really little?

3. Is the top half really bigger than the bottom half?

4. How long is the battery life, does it match up to the statistics released?

5. In your opinion, does the 32mb internal memory affect you that much?

6. What do you think of the bluetooth transferring on the phone?

7. What do you think of the interface system of the phone?

Thanks in advance, i really appreciate it

if your looking for all of that get the MX7

most of those questions apply to all the new panasonic phones.

Posted by: iLL-Faded

as of right now the MX7 owns the VS7.

they dont seem to be on the market yet in AUS or Taiwan... thats the two places i get phones from Which countries are selling MX7 at the moment? I only know of Hong Kong but they seem to be in simplified chinese over there and they are probably not a full version either.

I've had the VS7 for a couple of weeks, so I'll answer your questions.

1. Yeah, it's pretty low. If you turn the volume all the way up and press it to your ear, you should be able to hear OK though.

2. The vibration on the phone is fine.

3. The top half is a little bigger, but if you see it in person it doesn't look bad at all.

4. The battery life matches up to the statistics pretty closely.

5. The 32 MB is enough as long as you aren't planning on putting lots of MP3s on the phone.

6. It works well, except it is very fickle about wht sort of MP3s it accepts. Not sure exactly causes it to reject certain MP3s yet.

7. The interface is pretty responsive, but otherwise nothing special.

1. Is the receiver on the phone really that low volume? Can you hear the person on the other end talking when you are in a busy / loud area?
Yes it is quite low...but I think a normal person should be fine...I am abit deaf so...

2. Is the vibration on the phone really little?
the vibration is quite good...I rely on this over the ringtones as per question 1...the speaker and earpiece isn't very loud.

3. Is the top half really bigger than the bottom half?
yes the top half is bigger then the bottom half but not by much really...i'd say a few mm each way...so not much at all.

4. How long is the battery life, does it match up to the statistics released?
i'm not sure as i haven't really read the statistics lol...but the first day, i used BT a lot...i mean at least 40 times, just transferring files here and there and i kept playing sonic and the battery died at night while i was on the phone. but so far it's got me into the second day without using BT and i've just been texting and talking on the phone...i did about 2hrs yesterday and only 1 bar out of 3 has been used up.

5. In your opinion, does the 32mb internal memory affect you that much?
well not really simply because i don't use the phone as a mp3 player so 32mb memory is pretty much sufficient but if you take a lot of photos then i'd suggest that you BT photos to your PC often and erasing them on your phone to make space for more photos...so i'd say no it doesn't really affect me much

6. What do you think of the bluetooth transferring on the phone?
well it has a 1mb file transfer limit on the phone but i think that BT transfer is ok...i won't say it's crap or good but it's jsut different to my previous phone (SE K700i) and the way it worked on the SE

7. What do you think of the interface system of the phone?
I think the interface is very easy to use. I work in the mobile industry and I can feel that the interface is very similiar to other manufacturers. not very hard to use but takes time to get used to it if you havent used a panasonic before (my first pana this one)

HK uses traditional chinese not simplified. I bought my VS7 from HK and it comes with traditional chinese as well as simpilified.

I heard that the problems that i mentioned such as low receiver volume and top half being bigger than bottom half is actually resolved on the MX7 model, would any owners of the MX7 like to justify if that is true? thanks.

Looks the same as a VS7 if you ask me

yeah guess not but my big issue is the volume of the receiver on the phone and the battery life. Do you think that MX7 is worth its weight in thickness for the extra battery power that you get? And i am curious about the volume of the receiver of the panasonic MX7.

Posted by: hebe

Well I guess someone needs to be a guinea pig in the end and try it

Posted by: Daisai

heh, yeah i will give it a go or maybe i will go with the VS6, those red lighted keys look really cool in the dark, problem is no exterior screen but i dont think i would take pictures of myself that often anyways. hmmm... what do you guys think.. VS6 or MX7?

Posted by: hebe

i find it quite useful to have an external screen so that I can see who's calling before i open the flip to answer...

but i guess that would only be useful if you use active flip.

Posted by: Daisai

hmm interesting.. so what can the external screen do... it comes up with caller id... screen for taking pictures of yourself.. shows the status.. what else can it do?

Posted by: hebe

- Shows who is calling + there contact picture if you've attached one
- Reception and battery status
- Time and date
- Seperate wallpaper to the one on your main display
- Taking photos of yourself.

also it display the SMS message

i guess it IS useful having an external screen haha
