That With The Developer Key Issue & the New OTA....its OFFICIAL that we can NO LONGER put our own Ringtones on our SK2's?

No it is not.

I just loaded a new ringtone with 3ring. It's kind of shotty but works. Through the console, well i've never loaded a ringtone through the console, but it should work. (I'll try it later for you)

how r u u loading ring tones on to it ?

You can load manual ringtones with a developer key still. However, "Loading ringtones" is not a valid reason for getting a developer key, so if you ask for one for this purpose, you won't get far.

You need to be a Java programmer to get a key. It's not very hard to do, you just need to write the basics of a Sidekick program, apply for the key, and you'll usually get it.

Its more than just writing a java program. I mean, you can write a hello world app and submit that if that was right. You need a reason for one, e.g. on device testing of your app.

Back when there were access levels it was much easier. I recall being one of the first people to have a dev key - didn't have to submit an app back then. Having 1.1 on a Sidekick 5 months before the OTA was pretty cool.
