Never seen iTunes work and already hate it
Makes phone slower, access 2 tf card slower...I just want 2 get rid of it!
How can I do that(kill it so that it doesn't load at startup)
MP is pinter 1.2
Thanx

Delete all j2me0 files from /c/mobile/kjava

You should edit the menu file and remove iTunes from there too.

I'm sure someone will come out with a 398 MP sans-iTunes, there are quite a few of the I398 MP's but they are all E1R or whatever the older firmware was before ROKR 42R, 43R and 44R.

More correct way..

1. Backup all Java games/application that you plan to keep
2. Delete all files from /c/mobile/kjava
3. Re-install back the java game

Reason being if you just delete the j2me0* file you phone will give you an error message everytime you turn it on.

Finally manage to kill iTunes. I'm currently using Pinter 43R MP.. might switch to 44R soon. This is what I did:

1) Delete all files in a/mobile/kjava/ & c/mobile/kjava/
2) Use E1_Fs and uncheck "Skip J2me0 midlet (iTunes)"
3) edit the mma_ucp (found in /a/mobile/system/) with p2kmenu editor and remove itunes reference

Unfortunately, once I remove the itunes reference inside the mma_ucp, my menu is being portray as list and not icons. I have a big feeling it is becos there are only 8 items in my menu and not 9 item (as the ninth item is the iTunes icon). My question is, how do you add an item to the menu to make it 9 again (or 12)? Any help would be greatly appreciated :P

Enable the AIM icon or something. The 9th icon is usually the IM icon.

You have to add IM back in mma_ucp IM not AIM

Here I have done it for you, save, unzip, extract zip file I have attached.
Then useing P2KTools replace files with the ones I have posted.
enjoy
-telcell

BTW bump that AIM B.S that you have in tools, it will do you no good unless your with T-Mobile, so get rid of it, the files I have attached include "true" mobile AIM and Yahoo M.

Simply. I expect that your ITunes menu item was at the top level, or this problem would not have happend.

So, all you need is to put any menu instead of the ITunes menu, because this mmu_ucp file has a structure: first the function keys, than the top level menu, thatn within it the second levels....

So it is not the same where you enable a new menu. Cou can put a Camera or VideoCamera instead of ITUnes, maybe network monitor FEM?

thanx.
Does this prolong battery life or make phone faster(from own experience, not theoretically)

yes, your battery will last longer and the access to the TF card will be faster.

Yup, the p2k menueditor 2.1 f$#ks up my menu if i use it. So what I did is use the updated version of the software. I think it's P2KMenuEditor 23 beta. Got it from Abomination's Download Website and use it to modify the mma_ucp. No problem and no more iTunes.. As a result, I have a longer battery life. Normally if got iTunes my battery is gone within a day (I'm a heavy duty user.. always make calls :P) but without it at least can last 1 1/2 day... sometimes 2 day.

what would yu have to do to reinstall Itune after you've deleted ?
I'd like to try and see if it really makes a big change on battery life - but I'd also like to have the option of reinstalling Itunes later ....

Posted by: Whatatay

Must you have Itunes installed in order to play MP3 files?

Why take the trouble to reinstall ITunes? Wouldnt it be less hassle if before u throw away ITunes u FlashBackup your hp 1st... then throw it away.... then if you do like ITunes, just restore your backup? I mean u can reinstall it but the possibility of bricking your phone is there ... your call dude.

Posted by: andrei80

1.U reflash phone with pinter's MP(or whatever) or with your backup(if ya have 1)
2.U REALLY don't need iTunes to play music(only makes phone slower, battery lasts less, music is less louder, the iTunes 4.9 for PC is a really nasty programme-hard 2 work with).
Phone has a very nice audio player built in.Just use it(make playlists 2)
If u miss iTunes(WHY??????????) just use Light player for java.
Good call with the P2K menu editor 2.3 man.I'll try using it

Posted by: pijesz

i have managed to remove itunes but when i want to upload back the java apps, found out that all java files that i backup from phone turns to .pat files with 2kb size each. im using p2ktools for downloading the files from phone...now all my java apps are gone

can any1 make a gimme a noob friendly guide to removing itunes? i've read the e398essential wiki on removing itunes but its not noob friendly enuff . Also does any1 have english version of p2kmenueditor_23_beta from abomination's site or is there an english verions of the menueditor?

thanks

Posted by: andrei80

1.seems like u can only install them on tfcard...put them there and install them(kjava)
2.it doesn't get any friendlier than that, sorry.Only a guy standing near u tellin u what to do is better than that...Just read carefully and u will get it
ATENTION!: use only P2K menueditor 2.3 or newer cause 2.1 and below tends 2 ruin your menu

Posted by: save

the problem is p2kmenu editor 2.3 is not in english so i've got no clue what i'm doing....

Posted by: andrei80

define "n00b friendly"...

all of us were n00bs at one time, but we took the time to read the guides and experiment with our phones to understand them better.

What is e1_fs?

e1_fs is known as "E1 File System Access". This software practically enable the java software to "read" back your phone especially when u deleted all the files under kjava. Software such as Iphone Explorer (Pwede), Read Maniac v2.4, JRecorder, etc that need to access your phone to function. Hope this helps. Get it a the Abomination software I stated in the thread
